Is there a way to bypass the air function on the inserts? I’d like to use outboard without coloring it.

Yes, Air can be turned on/off for the 8 microphone/line inputs using Focusrite Control. The Air light will not be illuminated for inputs that don't have it enabled, and air does not effect ADAT inputs, or S/PDIF inputs. Please let us know if this makes sense or if we can answer additional questions.

Hi Focusrite, in the market for a Clarett+ Octopre (I have the Clarett+ 8pre) and would intend on connecting them via ADAT. 3 questions: Am I right in thinking that with the insert I can use a Y cable and the singular output socket acts as a send (output) and return (input) to outboard gear? Also, can I use these in post for adding outboard effects and what output do I send my signal to? can ADAT handle that? Also final question! will the insert bypass the preamp once returning to the Octopre? I wouldn't want any extra colouring from the preamp. I appreciate thats a lot to ask but would be super grateful for some guidance! Thank you

Hi, thank you for reaching out, we're happy to hear you are interested in Clarett+ Octopre. Because Clarett+ Octopre features ADAT in and out, you can digitally route its outputs in Focusrite Control. The preamp is not fully bypassed when connecting to the line inputs because the signal must go through the variable gain section. This is because the Clarett+ octopre does not feature fixed gain inputs. However, this will add minimal color to your signal. As for the inserts, more info on their functionality can be found on page 11 of the user guide which I've linked here: fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/Clarett%2B%20OctoPre%20User%20Guide%20V5%20-%20EN.pdf Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.

@@FocusriteTV Thanks for that! I had a read but am still unsure about using outboard effects post recording using the insert jacks. To use gear after recording would I have to just use the line outputs and send the signal back in the normal mic/line inputs or is there a way of using the insert jacks instead of that to save the mic inputs for microphones. Cheers!

Octopre inserts are typically used with the following signal flow: - Send signal to OctoPre's line outputs via ADAT - Connect OctoPre Line Out to Outboard Line In - Apply effects - Connect Outboard Line Out to OctoPre Line In - OctoPre Line In is sent via ADAT Out back to "main" interface

@@FocusriteTV Ok got it, you can't use the insert jack on the octopre to add hardware inserts post recording you have to use line outputs (db25) and the line in preamps. So the function of the insert jack is only for live tracking/recording with hardware and cannot be used as an insert after I assume. Thanks for the replies!
