Okay, but let's talk about that clone who dodged a rocket launcher before calling out the shot. Considering rockets like those travel at at least 500 km/h, his reaction time must be nuts.

@NoNo47668

The clones weren’t fit for what the empire needed. Clones were expensive and took a very long time to produce, what the empire needed was a police force. The stormtroopers did not provide that, but the imperial army troopers did. Lower quality, but they weren’t dealing with massive amounts of battle droids, they were dealing with untrained resistance groups.

@Aredel Жыл бұрын
@@tristanemery8748 The AT-TE is more survivable as well. Yes, the legs are a weakness, but usually it takes heavy artillery and explosives to take one down. Not a basic tension cable. Furthermore, the (comparatively) lower profile of the AT-TE means it's far less likely to be hit from longer range compared to its imperial successor. Most Clone Wars era stuff in general is just vastly better designed than the Empire's "advancements". The only objective improvement the Empire makes is with its capital ships. Everything else is just expensive trash.

Problem is that at-te and at-at are not actually tanks. They are slow and one of tanks' main tactical goal is fast breakthrough and to put the cow to mind the corn in enemy communications bases, supply lines - fast n furious mobile artillery. Te and at are walkers that transport elite troopers. Also both have huge guns that overwhelming everything in a shot range. They were better than Cisc and rebel vehicles. But both are often ridiculously slow. But te and at are not tanks. Both are mobile heavy artillery that transport elite troopers. Problem is that military command (and fiction authors) often use them as tanks but they are heavy artillery and transport vehiles. Notes: -The cockpit is Transparent Titanium, its actually comparatively durable to the rest of the walker, and it fixes the issue of most tanks being "the driver can't see shit" -true, though I doubt anyone's getting close enough without the gunner or the guys in the tank shooting the invaders -0:09 (even then the rockets in star wars are strong enough to take out craft far larger than the AT-TE like the ones used at Kamino) -the feet of AT-TEs are magnetic and the same allows for them to bend or wrap around rocks -the main cannon could be controlled from the inside, but were far less accurate

Watching force 99 easily take down an AT-TE reeeeaaaally explains why they were replaced by the AT-AT and it's variants.

Yeah, the AT AT is so much better. Not. The ATAT is much less manuverable, and its legs are an even BIGGER weakness. It can ONLY fire forward at like a 30° angle each way unlike the ATTE

Why do these things have legs? The ATAT as well they're both as bad they fall over, very slow, and big, vulnerable targets. What's wrong with tank tracks or having them hover?

Highly uneven terrain is the main reason. Legs allow it to scramble over rocks, vegetation and equipment/vehicles. Also, the legs allow it to climb up vertical cliffs or magnetically attach to hulls of ships as shown here.

@HEMAYATC here's your solution: magnetic tracks. The cockpit is exposed and gunners have no protection either.

Clone is crazy? AT-TE crew. Clone is weird? Pilot. Clone is dumb? Heavy trooper. Clone is smart? Commander.

The AT-TE is without a doubt, my favorite walker. However, the fact that the gunner was exposed is just stupid. There is no reason why he should be up there. I mean this is Star Wars, they should be able to put the gunner turret inside the hull among the rest of the crew. Then again this is Star Wars, crew safety seems to be the opposite of a concern.
