If anyone is interested in where the "vampire" quote comes from during the "Intermission" track at 7:50, it's actually from a really old episode of Cops. I was watching old Cops reruns awhile back and some guy on drugs getting arrested started shouting about how he was a vampire - I knew I had heard it somewhere before and then I remembered this album haha.

This is the first record with Paul Hinojos on bass. He is a very underrated bass player in my opinion. He creates deep and consistent bass lines, so guitars can go a little bit crazy.
@alexhennigh52423 жыл бұрын
Agreed! All I can say after spending months learning ATDI songs on bass is that his hands must be HUGE! He reaches all over the place in the most awkward ways but fuck does it ever sound good.

This is where their sound crystallized. I always felt there was a missing link between Acrobatic Tenement and In/Casino/Out; here it is. Once Omar took up the guitar, there was no going back. Shame this EP put the band through hell, but a far stronger unit emerged with a signature sound, cleaner production, and plenty of room for further growth.
@ghin7803 жыл бұрын
I always thought this record sounds a bit inept because it was missing Jim Ward and the way Jim and Omar's guitars sound like they're fighting over Cedric.
@CSHorseBobJoe6 ай бұрын
@@ghin780 I agree, but I think he means he's talking about how Omar's guitar work and style had a clear influence on the direction the band took years later, and that this EP was the first glimpse into the style they would later develop, I think they meant that the change was pretty sudden without the context of this EP, and that this EP kinda creates a clear bridge and transition into their their later style.

Still my favorite At The Drive-In album. It was my first time hearing them, on a (literal) mix tape, and I thought they sucked. Worst band on the tape and it wasn't even close. It took me about a dozen listens to really get into it. The raw, lo-fi sound really suited them. If I turned my headphones up loud enough, it was like being in the room with them.
