¡Alfaro Vive, Carajo! is the second EP by At the Drive-In, released in 1995. The title takes its name from the Eloy Alfaro Popular Armed Forces, a clandestine left-wing group in Ecuador.
0:00 | Bradley Smith
2:42 | Instigate the Roll
5:40 | Ludvico Drive-In
8:10 | Circuit Scene
11:37 | Plastic Memories
Cedric Bixler -- Lead vocals
Jim Ward -- Guitar, back-up vocals
Jarrett Wrenn -- Guitar
Kenny Hopper -- Bass
Davy Simmons -- Drums
The back-up vocals on "Ludvico Drive-In" were done by Laura Beard and Sarah Reiser, who were friends with Bixler-Zavala and fellow members in the short lived group The Fall on Deaf Ears. The two girls died in a car wreck two years later. Cedric would later write "Napoleon Solo" about the incident. This is the last CD to feature Jarrett Wrenn and Kenny Hopper who went on to create Crime in Choir.
Following the release of ¡Alfaro Vive, Carajo! At the Drive-In set out on their second tour, this one in a newly purchased 1981 Ford Econoline van, spanning 42 days and 10,000 miles across the United States.

makes me sad to know Jim and those guys can't work their shit out, hate to say it but the newest ATDI album was not too good imo. It needed Jim he is a huge part of the sound of this group.

@@TheFBK69 100%. I actually forgot how good this era of ATDI was, Jim brought a lot to the group. I was shocked when they announced he wouldnt be apart of the reunion, the band kinda became one dimensional after he left.

@@idonteatcheetos I doubt that Jim straight up left. I have a strong feeling that he was cut out of the picture during the reunion because Omar and Cedric have forgotten what it's like to be in a BAND and not just a project where you dictate everybody's playing

Indeed, not only were they jaw droppingly good, they were truly in the right place @ the right time, as homeboy above me just mentioned, they were probably the last band worth their weight that was able to get exposure the old fashioned way in the pre-Napster / pre-collapse of the major labels era . . .

They’re just awesome. Fan of around 22 years here. I’ve heard every song by ATDI and of their entire collection can name maybe 10 songs I don’t like. There are very few bands I can say that about.

Been too long since I've listened to this EP, well over 10 years. Still know every word like I never stopped listening. :) Totally flooded with emotions and nostalgia. Oh the good ol' days of locking myself in my bedroom playing burnt copies of the ATDI EPs and CDs.

@@nembeasialv2013 Eloy Alfaro era presidente y general del ejercito ecuatoriano. La guerrilla que nacio decadas despues uso su nombre como homenaje y declaracion de su etica progre-nacionalista. its inaccurate to call "picket fence cartel" a different version of "plastic memories" other than that cedric re-used the term "we all become what we most dislike in the picket fence cartel" which is a reference to having a stereptypical american family... neither song has anything else in common
