At the gates is a rare example of legendary bands who live up to their legacy after a reunion decades later.

Opinions. For me, "At War With Reality" was almost as good as "Slaughter of the Soul"

You have to take in to consideration it's not like they made sots yesterday that was a long time ago. His voice isn't exactly the same close but not like sots and the guitars aren't going to sound like they just picked up were they left off, they have all had a shitload of sidebands and influences. I would say were pretty lucky to be able to listen to this record in 2018 seeing it was how long ago sots came out???? They haven't changed at all except for the better.

In my view, neither these or Dark tranquility can even be touched as far as the melo death is concerned.

I've been thinking about this recently after picking up stone's reach by be'lakor. It's a very civilised album. At the gates have a wild, desperate and feral sound to them. It's why they are kings, whereas so many melodeath bands these days have something very restrained and civilised about their sound. At the gates still sound dangerous

now we are talking! No recycled riffs, lots of atmosphere builded up, this could come actually from one of the pages of the peaceville years. Awesome video. I was skeptic a bit with the previous singles, but this one is just got me hooked!

Undeniably the best song released so far. Reminds me a lot of With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness, with the harmonized tremolo riffs and acoustic breaks. With a modern touch, of course. Definitely a grower.
