What I find intriguing about these is that while they're stainless of course, they are probably the closest thing to the vaunted Smith model 13 (or 65 in this case) of old per the setup. The fixed sights, the 3" barrel, the firing pin on the hammer, the "K" frame size range, (almost) the 6 shot cylinder, no Hillary hole and the like. Why I think it's sort of interesting is that for a long time now I've been reading posts and listening to people sing the praises of the 3" model 13 for years and years already but nobody has gone out of their way (manufacturers) to make a close approximation of that format up to this point except these guys. I'm not including the Taurus 856 examples because of the transfer bar or whatever they're using. I have an old 4" model 13 and a few 4'' model 10's that I've scooped out of pawn shops on the cheap over the years and I was seriously considering having the mod 13 and maybe a mod 10 sent over to Tiger McKee to have them taken down to 3" and have the guy put his action job on it and the rest of the stuff he did to make his ideal fighting revolver. But alas, he passed away before I had the chance. So now I'm reluctantly going (today in fact) to look at one of these Rossi's that came into a store near me. Reluctantly I say just based on the fact that it's a Rossi and it's affiliation with Taurus. But, I'll take a look with an open mind. This video didn't hurt, either. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I have always favored 4-inch revolvers, except for the reproductions of single-action revolvers of earlier times with their longer barrels. And I favor revolvers around the L-frame size. When I am shooting something like a .357 magnum, I want a revolver substantial enough in my hand to fire it. A Ruger GP100 or S&W 586/686 tickles my fancy. A 3-inch in either revolver would be fine with me. I think that Rossi has improved on their products because of their association with Taurus, as I have seen Taurus products improved in quality over the years. I am not saying that they are top-notch, though. But their product quality has improved. Supposedly Rossi (Braztech) production is licensed under Taurus. I would assume that to do so they must meed Taurus quality specifications. I did not enjoy shooting .357 magnum out of the RP63, and I doubt if doing the same out of the RM64 or RM66 would be much better. But if a .357 magnum, K-frame revolver fits someone's fancy, I am not going to dun them for it. This morning, for a trip to the local convenience store, I slid a Taurus 3-inch 856 Defender in the jacket pocket instead of my Glock G23 .40 S&W simply because I put trust in both. With the exception of capacity, a good revolver is hard to beat, but capacity isn't everything. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

@@RangeRoninChronicles Thanks. Yeah, I wouldn't poo-poo a 3" GP-100 with non adjustable sights either if I ever found one below $500- "Hahahaha...." I crack myself up! Boy, I wish I'd had the sense to pick up one of those Ruger 3" GP's before 2010. Live and learn! Thanks again.

I've been looking at these, don't own a Rossi but I've got a couple Taurus model 65's one made in the 70's and a newer production one that are just as accurate and reliable as any Smith or Ruger wheel gun I own.

Thanks for taking the time out of your New Year's Day to watch and comment. When I purchased this one, the 4-inch version (RM64) was not yet available. If I had waited just a bit, I would have purchased the 4-inch - but I do like the 3-inch while shooting standard .39 Special loads. I would shoot +P for carry and would reserve .357 magnum for a more stout revolver, like the Ruger SP101 or Kimber K6S.

@@RangeRoninChronicles Alright, yeah cool - it's awesome, imo; it suits this well - and we can still hear the shooting. 👌 Btw, a 3" barrel is also my preference for a CCW - over a 2"... It's more blasty than a 4", but you still get good velocity. Have a good day then. 👍

Thanks for watching and commenting. They had a bit of a bite to them. Because of the size and weight of the RP63, I felt like i was shooting a .44 magnum rather than a .357 magnum. In fact, I would rather shoot a .44 magnum out of a Ruger Redhawk or Smith & Wesson Model 29 than this one with .357 magnum. Shooting magnums definitely affect follow-up shots.
