The biggest congratulations I could give for your finishing the AT. So sorry the weather was so bad and your son could not be there with you when you touched that sign. He did get to be on that mountain on your summit day to experience just how tough the hike is and experience first hand what you have gone through. I hiked.the AT in 2005 and like you my son hiked Mt Katahdin with me. My summit day was quite the opposite. Perfect weather and my son was able to be with me at the summit. Congratulations! So awesome that you made it, even if you ended up having to do it solo. It's still nice that your boys were there to support you on the first part of the hike anyway. Maine ended up being just as hard on the last day as it was on the first day! But you still conquered it. It really was an amazing journey! Good luck on your running! I broke my leg on the AT in Delaware Water Gap NRA in New Jersey on April 30th on a section hike, and I am also chomping at the bit to get back to running. It's probably another two months for me. I really miss running, but my physical therapists keep me busy with other exercises.
