AT Tire Review: Hankook Dynapro AT2

Our old set of trusty KO2s took one for the team, so the opportunity presents itself to go bigger and try something new... One size up for our XC60 is 255/60-18 but there are only a couple All Terrain tire options, and then the choice was easy since only one of the two is Tripple-Mountain-Peak rated for snow: The Hankook Dynapro AT2
Much searching found few if any decent reviews on the AT2, so let's roll our own and torture test these shiny new South Korean yet American Made tires over the course of thousands of miles and two trips through Death Valley.

Have been using Hankook AT2s for a while… lots of rocky washboard roads . The ride smoothness is very noticeably better than other tyres. A real feature. Quiet and capable on the sealed road also. Low cost a real bonus. Have had one tread puncture due to a sharp stone, but almost no wear in 15000 miles. There are plenty of tougher heavier tyres, but the AT2s get the job done if you want a cheap all terrain for road and light duty off road use.

I think these will be the next tires for my wife's '06 H3 Adventure daily driver. She has the chrome 18" wheels so it's 265/70R18. Nice detailed review.

Great video, I guess rolling resistance plays a role somewhere there. I am not a fan of bigger tires myself and usually stick to the manufacturer's size guidelines. Thanks for the review, I'm considering these for a 2010 Silverado 4x4 (265/70r17).

These are the OEM tires on my '22 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X, which have served me well for 60k miles. Nice, quiet ride and excellent durability and traction in the rain, too! I'm considering buying the AT2 Extreme to replace these when needed.

I run 39 psi cold all around for normal driving, and then went down to 28 front and 30 rear (warm) when we hit the trail (we were pretty loaded down so the rears needs a little more to stand the sidewalls up).

How are the tires after 3 years? I’m getting these installed tomorrow on my sequoia. I love the look with the white letters. Mine are 275/65R18 and I got it for $213.99 a tire! I’m looking forward to having some fun with the new rubber!

Good evening I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot I am going to upgrade my suspension with a lift kit. I’m using 215/65r17. So basically I’m trying to add some height. I am new on using AT ( all-terrain ) tires.

A question that I hope you can help me with. I’m in love with the Volvo V90 Cross Country T6 and I can’t find any details on how much AT tires I can put on the V90CC. Do you think the wheel well, brake caliper size is similar to your XC60? Do you think 255/55/18 KO2s would fit a T6 V90CC? I was thinking 18x8 +40?

Let's see...according to this ( www.wheel-size.com/size/volvo/v90-cross-country/2020/ ) the stock 18" size is 235/55-18 with a 50.5mm offset. I would guess the tire would fit, it's less than an inch larger diameter and less than an inch in width, but shifting the offset by 10mm could cause trouble on the inboard edge of the tire. Considering the 245s run with 49.5mm offset, I would suggest either stay there, or move in to like 45mm. All depends on what wheels and offsets exist out there of course...but that's my thought.

Hey Kranvagn, had your original swede speed post saved for years and have (though not intentionally trying to copy your exact rig as I was after grey!) bought an ‘18 Fusion Red XC60 D5 R-Design and the same wheels. Interested in your fender extensions; are they the Volvo OEM for the 22” wheel you bought? And if so what made you pick black or do they not sell them in red?

Yup they are the factory Volvo 22" wheel extensions. As for why black...ties in with the black inset I did for the rear bumper (the fake quad-exhaust bumper, External Appearance Package I think it's called?) and a general off-roadie look. And you know, at times I do have to rub them against bushes/trees in the wild, so it feels better if they are black instead of pretty Fusion Red :-P

Hi there, thanks so much for documenting at tires on the SPA platform for volvo. I have a 2018 xc90 t5 momentum AWD with 18" wheels. I believe the 18s are the same for the XC60. Do you think these tires would fit on the stock 18" rims? I would love to get these and gain that touch of lift. Stock tires/rims that i have on my 18's are 255/60/r18 with 42.5 offset.

The wheels here are MSW Type 49s, 18x8" with a +42mm offset, so looks like all but identical to your OEM 18s, therefore yeah these tires I would think should fit just fine.

I just bought the hankook at2 for my wife's s10 zr5 and the wildpeaks for my sierra....still need to get them I stalled but I'm excited!! Both tires have the best reviews of all others as far as more road driving than off road and noise level being good and low! But both are off road capable except not rated for mud so much.

hello from Italy Florence how do these Hankook dynapro at2 all terrain tires behave on wet asphalt and on snow and mud because I would be willing to buy it for my Suzuki Jimny 4x4! (Hello, I have a set of Hankook dynapro atf RF 10 205-70-15 m+s all terrain tires on my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 and a set of retreaded mud terrain tires from the Italian brand ziarelli and they are the mud Power model ziarelli MT 205-70 -15 !)

I would say they are great on pavement and gravel, pretty good on snow, and mud I think the tread isn't aggressive enough compared to a more hard core AT tire. That being said, trying to combine mud terrain and road manners is just about impossible, so you kinda need to pick a lane with those mixed requirements.
