Joe Vernengo arrived in South Vietnam in November 1968. He served a year in the Mekong Delta, primarily as a Light Oberservation Helicopter ("Loach") scout. He experienced a considerable amount of combat. He shares memories from his year of service. After the war, he made a career of serving other Vietnam veterans.
