After watching many videos like this I still couldn’t decide which one would work best for me so I chose to stick with the iron sights it came with.
@5jjt
@5jjt 8 ай бұрын
A red dot, even the cheapest of the cheap, are an excellent pair with iron sights because iron sights can be cowitnessed through them, whereas irons cannot be cowitnessed through a prism optic. Has something to do with glass distortion. Any red dot you choose, that looks like it was designed for a rifle and not an actual handgun pistol, should have all the mounting hardware you'll need to have the height you want. If you like red dots, then you can buy a magnifier to put behind the red dot for farther shots. If your dot dies, you can still shoot with irons, and if your magnifier breaks, you can remove it if it has a quick detach mount or just flip it out of the way.

Even though the content goes into a general overview there’s a lot of detail covered within this video from which we can all learn something new. It’s very nicely done. I would have loved to seen a section of the use of reflex sights using a 45 or 90 degree mount paired with a MPVO or Prism scope.

One nice thing about aperture style "iron sights." No matter if you are severely near sighted or have bad astigmatism, you will see clearly through a small round aperture sight due to the "pin hole effect." I believe this was one of the reasons the military adopted this style sight over the traditional three post iron sights used previously; if an infantryman lost his glasses, he could still see clearly through his rifle's sights. Note that the smaller the aperture, the greater the "pin hole effect;" if your flip up sight has a large or small round aperture, the smaller aperture will look the most clear if you are looking through it without your corrective lenses.

If you have a stigmatism and your 'iron sights' co-witness with your red dot, try flipping your rear sight up. Most of the time it helps or fixes that a stigmatism issue. I have a flair or comet shaped a stigmatism and it helped it out dramatically cleaning up the round dot.

I have to tell you, comments like yours really makes the "job" rewarding. I'm sure we share a similar sentiment towards the stereotypical KZbin American firearms "instructor". Being unapproachable doesn't help the masses. In my opinion, it's just not that serious. For me to be proficient at the type of shooting my mission dictates...I better have fun during practice! If it's not fun, it's not going to get my full attention...and shooting is definitely a disciplined field where full attention is CRITICAL. I'm glad to see our informational approach to firearms content resonating well outside of the U.S. walls! If you find yourself in Minnesota, USA...I'll gladly hit the range with you! -Randy

I’ve had everything mounted on my AR my favorite is SWFA 1-4x24 it can be used at 1X like a dot reticle is etched so battery dead scope is still usable. Glass is extremely clear and high quality. So I can use it for CQB and with the Quad Mil reticle it’s good to 600 yards or maybe more. And the SWFA is built like a tank also mounted it with Aero Precision mount which is amazing just wish the mount was easily removable but all in all I feel it’s a pretty bulletproof setup.

Great video. For my fellow airsofters out there who want real steel optics on there airsoft guns here’s my experience.LPVOs are extremely over hyped and typically suck or break and when you spend 500-1500 bucks on a sight for airsoft, having it break to a BB sucks, trust me, I know from experience. Red dots are relatively overrated especially people who stick Trijicon SROs or RMRs on their rifles (Ak guys I’m looking at you.) but in the grand scheme of things aim points and trijicon MROs are where it’s at. For flip zoom optics like the EOtech G33s or others like it, I recommend not wasting you 600 bucks on something that has no difference when on a gun that has less recoil than subsonic 22 short, get the replica EOtech G33 and call it a day. For Holographics the EOtech HWS EXPS2 is the best optic out there, no need for NVG bs, and they even work great in CQB which surprised me and the people around me watching me shove a $670 optic on a 600 dollar airsoft gun. Don’t even bother with sniper scopes, they barely work for airsoft and look stupid, trust me your $800 Leopold 24x optic does not look cool on your M4. Keep in mind this is all tips for airsoft guns, not real guns, on real guns there is no bad high quality sight, it’s just the situation that you need it for.

Can I please correct you on a bit of vernacular that bugs me. A 1-6 zoom (or magnification) scope is not "1 by 6" it is "1 to 6". The "by" comes later when talking about the objective lens diameter. so you can have a 1 to 6 by 24, written 1-6x24, which means a 1 to 6 power zoom with a 24mm objective lens. 3-9x42, 3 to 9 by 42, a 3 to 9 zoom with a 42mm objective lens.

For those of us with aging eyes, sometimes the decision is based solely what will work with them. Holo and prism are better than red dot for those who do not have a choice, for instance.

Issue with Vortex is that their holos kinda suck. They don’t actually decrease their brightness, they just flicker, which can be very noticeable

I just mounted up my new Atibal SAP 1x Micro Prism circle dot sight to my lightweight build. It has an etched reticle and illumination. It’s nice and small. I have Atibal’s 1-10x30 FFP mounted to my 16” LWRCi M6IC-DI I think I might want to try shooting lefty as I’m cross eye dominant. So I’d be using my LWRC as it’s Ambi.

The RMR topped Elcan Specter DR 1×4 with the A.R.M.S MKII QD lever upgrade is the best combat optic setup available bar none. 🔥 🎯
@JakeCamo

Why would you spend $2,000 on an optic with an actual 1x on it, just to put an RMR on it… it seems at that point you admitting some type of failure with the Elcan at 1x… why not run an acog rmr combo which would be much lighter

@@JakeCamo The short answer is the ACOG's eye relief is 🐕 💩. The ACOG has aided in putting plenty of bad guys in the dirt but the Elcan is a superior optic, though it is indeed relatively expensive for what it is, but as I said it is the best...not the cheapest haha

You forgot one important factor about selecting the EOTech. It’s the “I’m just a lazy bastard and I already know a EOTech with a magnifier will improve my lethality” factor. 😂

Nice job on the video. Ton of information, with excellent explanation/presentation! I’ve got set ups with all of these category options, and my two favorites are my Aimpoint RD with an Aimpoint 3x magnifier on a QD mount, and my 3x ACOG. The ACOG is a great piece of equipment, and works well with my astigmatism. Hard time beat an ACOG…. The Aimpoint RD is also top quality, and versatile, including an absolute co-witness with my irons. I’ve had this setup a long time, and it just works for me. I do like the flip to side mount and should probably look to change over to that mount.

Im working on a new build after not really messing with new tech for a while. I wad really annoyed Diamondhead stopped selling to civ markets because they had a diamond shaped dioptic set of buis. *For my eyes* it really helped with a consistent sight picture comparied to an A2 front sight hood and round aperture. Looks like troy makes a rear sight with a diamond aperture, but not a a diamond front sight hood.
