Do you have a link to the chokes you mentioned in the video?

youtube doesn't seem to like links very much, but they are Carlson Cremator chokes; one mid range and one long range. it's the mobil thread pattern.

@hissinggoose I am in the market for a semi auto shotgun for my daughters to use at the trap range. They're both about 5' 3" and very slight of frame so am going to need to either buy a compact stock or more likely modify the stock on a regular model. I've been looking at the Girsan MC312 or this ATA given the cheap price but I can't seem to find anyone online that's cut the stock down to fit a 13" length of pull. Do you think it would be possible to modify this ATA to fit and would you still recommend it?
@hissingoose2 жыл бұрын
unfortunately the compact market for semis (or any compact shotgun for that matter) in Canada right now is currently quite poor. there are some 20ga options, but I'm guessing you are looking for 12ga. The issue with the Girsan or the ATA would be if it's a synthetic stocked model it's difficult to cut the stock down and retain the factory recoil pad and strong enough mounting points for the recoil pad. cutting down a wood stock will present the same problem in that the dimensions will be too small for the original recoil pad. (the factory one can be ground), Also, cutting down a stock can change the drop of the comb to the point of it needing shims to have the correct drop for the shooter. i was able to get my 5'4" wife a Franchi Affinity 3 in 12g and a compact (I have a video on it), but they're hard to find, it came complete with shims and stock spacers to do everything from 12.5-13.5". Winchester does make an SX4 in Compact and it's reasonably priced, and exists... it'll still be double what a girsan or ATA is.

@@hissingoose I’ve read about people glueing in wood to act as mounting points if you need them in a synthetic stock but would rather buy a factor stock if they were available at a reasonable cost…which they don’t seem to be

@@iamastig yea, it's really strange too because the initial batches of ATA CY's into canada had a 13.5" LoP, but haven't seen them for 6-7 years.
@hissingoose2 жыл бұрын
@@iamastig North Sylva was/is the main importer of Girsan and ATA into canada; maybe reaching out to them directly could work. ATA's website has many listed with shorter LoPs, but likely a special order now.

I recently bought the security version with all black and a pistol grip. Is this a reliable gun for home defense? I cannot for the life of me find any decent reviews on it other than it has trouble cycling lighter rounds.
@hissingoose3 жыл бұрын
I can't see it being terrible, it's a weatherby SA-08 and those are very well liked.
@datziklegendz12252 жыл бұрын
Mine DOES NOT like light loads even with the light piston. Unless you’re running buckshots or slugs, don’t bother loading it! Home defense you’re maybe looking for a pump action. They don’t fail unless you do 😊

I bought my first Shotgun yesterday (ATA CY Tactical 20'') and im fairly new in the Business with Shotguns.. Can you show me how to change a Choke? I have 5 different ones but i cant get it changed somehow... i have a Muzzle Break installed and i dont see a Possibility to remove that. Sorry if thats a awkard Question :D
@hissingoose4 жыл бұрын
it should have come with a choke wrench, that's the tool to remove them properly. a quarter will work most times too, but best to use the ones that come specifically for that gun. the muzzle break is a choke as well, it'll likely have a cylinder constriction. it'll need to be removed for other constrictions to be put in.
