After Awesome Tapes From Africa's Brian Shimkovitz found the energetic, ecstatic music of Ghanaian musician Ata Kak, the tunes became beloved around the world. It was all unbeknownst to the artist himself -- his music was even unknown to those living in his hometown in Ghana. Years of tireless searching ensued, and eventually, the Los Angeles-based label owner found a lead.
Ata Kak - Time Bomb follows the search that Shimkovitz undertook as well as the visit to Ghana that took place once he found him. It is a celebration of great tunes and how, when it hits the right audience at the right time, music can touch people in a way that you never imagined.

This may be one the finest pieces of cultural documentation I have ever seen. Ata's and Ghanian people positive approach to the life in a developing country (I come from a similar country, Costa Rica, pardon my English) touches me down deep. Thanks to Brian and the people of RBMA.

I just loved this... I was watching it with a stupid smile on my face all the time. I'm trully happy for this gentleman, which i've been hearing for a couple a months now. But this video... It reminds me how music is so essential and precious and meaningful in our lives. I discovered my father's album on spotify months ago and it felt like i was born again. I allways told my friends that my father was a musician, but never had the proof cause we didnt actually owned the cd or tape of it. Then this day i searched for my dad's artistic name on the internet, "Camucuço" and there it was. Someone just uploaded the full album on Spotify. It felt like a miracle. I actually remmembered some of the songs and i wanted to cry so much. I recognized my dad's voice. It was trully amazing. And this video just reminded me of that. To be born again to a memory or a reality we thought it had vanished. My father had become my hero again. So thank you so much for this. And thank you Ata Kak for your addicting music. It's when you know you're being blessed.

most african people don't care especially when they live abroad cause they want to support their familys far away. They are not like western people and usually give away all their belongings to said family. Even sometimes to the point it's unhealthy for their financial situation abroad. That's why a lot of africans get stuck in a viscious cycle of being poor and never gaining any wealth.

It will be difficult to tell because there are many songs like that. This is a traditional song played with a local guitar-like instrument known as the Kologo. The genre is therefore known as Kologo-music and performed by many in Northern Ghana. The most popular kologo musician is 'King Ayisoba'
