I grew up in the 60's and 70's, there's never been a group as unique as Atarashii Gakko. They're Fantastico!
@Racistobama6 ай бұрын
I half wonder if that's part of why I find them so appealing. I've enjoyed a fair bit of Japanese pop since the mid-90's, at least when I could find lyrics, but its like they've cherry-picked the best elements of J-pop from the past 40 years. I suspect that's Money Mark at work.

Their choreography looks like improvised mastery
@samodelkin3637 ай бұрын
I have watched many of their videos multiple times! I have followed every single one of them in every single video. Their choreography for each song is honed almost to perfection! And yet they easily adapt the basic dance to any size stage and any environment on it. Each of the girls is exactly where she should be and doing exactly what she should be doing at any given moment! Well, of course, there are little moments of improvisation in every show, as long as it doesn't disrupt their overall script. They are high professionals! 👌

They make it look so effortless but I think it feels very "them" because they make their own choreo.

I add my thanks for your video. I agree that the producer/ director needs help in showing the AG performance. I’ve always thought the best way to show on screen is with a split screen. One side shows Suzuka and her amazing vocals and the other shows Mizyu, Rin and Kanon doing their dance and vocals.

A great example of this are the two Seishun Wo Kirisaku Hado choreography videos shot in Tottori, both by the same director. The MV is excellent and fun, with creative cuts and sly homages to the Beastie Boys’ “So What’Cha Want” video. The choreography video of the same song, released a week later, which is just them in one single shot with a gently floating steady-cam in an empty shopping arcade, has more than 2x as many views, now approaching 10 million.

Kanons voice is so angelic. Listening to hear and Mizyu is like a song from Final Fantasy or an Anime.
They really have a special mix of song and dance. Syncing perfectly. SUZUKA has such stage presence. Always communicating with the audience audience. It is true, original music, and such a friendly female assemble. Thank you so much for sharing 😊😊
It's amazing that they can work with so many talented song writers from all over Japan and still add that AG charm that ties it all together.

@@Bunny11344 That is no contradiction. The style was a sailor's uniform/dress to start with, but became popular for children somewhere around or rather before 1900. Using this popular children's dress as a school uniform has a certain logic and was apparently not so unusual in Japan some decades ago.

I figured I wasn't the only one who saw it. The signs are all there: the greatly increased self-promotion worked into the act, the renewed focus on singing, more timeless lyrics, the steadily evolving costumes. "Forever Sisters" is probably the shape of things to come as the group matures and becomes necessarily a bit less rambunctious. And it's all being very carefully produced. I honestly expect Money Mark to start working hard at improving their English. This is one of only a handful of Japanese acts that has true global potential, partly because they push boundaries but also due to pure talent.

Absolutely love these girls, but somebody obviously forgot to continue the lip syncing at 1:49 😉
@CamAnh-j3z7 ай бұрын
Officially, Coachella prohibits lip synching, but apparently permits backing tracks, because AG's whole act is to sing to instrumental backing. So I guess that chorus intro at 1:49 was part of the backing track. At 3:09, the same chorus intro wasn't lip synced to either, so it wasn't a mistake in either instance.
@jim2lane7 ай бұрын
@@CamAnh-j3z well, that would be one way to explain it. But ya gotta admit, having vocals coming out of the speakers when no one from a vocal group is visibly singing, is a bit incongruous at best
