Outstanding information provided with your signature enthusiasm. I'm a nut for gathering/creating info-goodies for emulators/frontends, so I know the work involved. Unfortunately, I'm hopelessly anal about such things, so I love doing it as much as playing the games...I can get lost in the photoshopping and websearching for hours (days/weeks/months) to make things complete and purty . And yes! The AtariAge community/forums absolutely enhances my hobby. It is an essential source for any vintage/retro tech/gaming enthusiast.

Always great to hear about firmware updates for the GSP. However, I'm so looking forward when future firmware will allow the remapping of button layouts. Right now the menu button causes some games not to be fully functional, i.e., the arcade version of Cloak & Dagger where you need all four buttons to fire with and not have one accessing the menu when firing in the 12'oclock position and some others like it. Many thanks for providing us with many more awesome ways to make the GSP even more fun!!!

Funny how you mentioned that "E. T." can be put on that. I don't have the Atari Gamestation Pro, but I do still have the original game. Recently I came up with the idea of how to beat game version 1 on it. I found the ship landing pad first, then the "call ship" space, and then I looked for the phone pieces. It was still tricky calling the ship & waiting until nearly the last second to find the landing pad to win the game, but it worked.

@PitfallHarry729 ай бұрын
Okay, that's it. I've been hesitant about getting one of these because of the goofy controllers, but after seeing this I finally caved. 🤣 I ordered a couple of 6' USB C cables too. I already have rechargeable lithium ion batteries, so I'm all set for batteries. It should be an adventure!
@louiscolli9 ай бұрын
You can use X-Box controllers via the USB C cables and they work great. And you can use 2 X-Box controllers and the two Atari wireless ones to play 4 player games
@PitfallHarry729 ай бұрын
Well, this is a bummer. The one I got from Amazon was USED. I sent it back and ordered another one, this time from a different, much better rated seller. So, I've now got to wait again. 🙁
@PitfallHarry728 ай бұрын
I love this thing! I wish I had gotten one sooner. Expecting that there would be a little bit of latency with the wireless controllers I ordered a couple of USB-C cables along with it, but I discovered that, even when using them wirelessly, there is less latency than with my 2600+ and Flashback 12! However, after reading the instructions and discovering that when you use them wired you don't have to use batteries, I may still use the USB-C cable anyway. And the little paddle knob is surprisingly nice. I also found that the action is smoother on the screen than with those other two units and real paddles. I have no doubt I'm going to be using this thing quite a bit. I haven't updated the firmware yet, but I'll do that tomorrow, and then probably tinker around with adding games and box art. I'm going to try the Arcade version of Galaga, one of my favorite games as a teen.

Excellent video as always. Correct me if I'm wrong but as with other custom firmwares, once GSP releases a new official upgrade once you flash the firmware to install you are going to lose all the customization . So keep this in mind while you spend hours and days tinkering. Yes, I've been through this many times and it stinks. Esp when the big companies force their upgrades on you.

Can i just flash the original 1.30 over this, if i want to have it back to stock firmware? And does this firmware helps in any way, e.g. editing the new files on the sd card, with enabling save states for own roms on the sd? I just can't get the save menu to work. Subfolder/No Subfolder, "Games" vs "games" folder, exfat vs fat32- the save menu just displays it's not supported on my nes, gba and megadrive roms.
@GenXGrownUp8 ай бұрын
You can certainly re-flash back to 1.30 if you decide to. Your save state problem sounds like a missing folder. First, create a save state from a pre-installed game to slots 3 or 4 (the SD card), then try it. That's fixed it for anyone who's ever asked me.

Atari'esque games? They aint liked as much as they should for the basic truth their skill level rating for the easiest 1's are probably 7 outta 10 whereas Nintendo and so on became considerably easier on the whole. You must be quick hand/eye/action coordinated and battle worn to handle going at just 1 point that gives you 3 chances or you must restart, work back up to & hopefully conquer said challenge which if you ain't a real pro you best best jump up to savestate Nintendo games etc. Lol, personally, i AM battleworn, thick hide but NOT coordinated by chance, birth shoulda been born under a different moon with different ma or pa? Dont know, do know i can play it again & again sammy but inevitably i must put it down & play some breath of the wild until i feel adequate again....hee heee heeeee haw!
