Jon and GenX Grownup fans. First I want to Thank Jon for his beyond my dreams review of my Paddle Expander. I designed this purely for fun to fix my own problem for myself. I never really thought of selling these but my wife said to post on Etsy. I never expected Jon to do a review until he called me today and asked for a link to the product. I am a 50 something Atari, Coleco and Odyssey2 owner/gamer and now a 1 man show (I guess) new Etsy paddle wheel maker. I thank Jon and all of you for your kind words. I got home from by regular job at 6pm, ate some leftovers and am processing about 20 of the 25 orders. Most will go out tomorrow and the rest on Thursday. I did run out but am printing more over night. I will also read thru all the comments (good or bad) and will see what improvement ideas I can incorporate into a possible 2.0 version if needed. Thank you Jon again, you are a blessed soul and we all appreciate you and what you do. Paul.

Folks. Just an update. 38 sets have been shipped out. All remaining placed order (15) will ship no later than Monday. I apologize for any delays. My learning curve on producing faster has improved but to get the nice finish just takes time. Etsy is very strict on hitting ship dates and this is why I have to be careful on listed stock. I am very new to all this. I did just replenish stock for any people who still may be interested but after I ran my scrap rate math I needed to bump the cost up by $1. If I can figure out how to reduce my waste I will drop it back down. Sorry if this upsets anyone. I am just doing this for fun and my full time job keeps getting in the way. Paul. ------- Also, Jon, If this posting is inappropriate please let me know. I again really appreciate all that you have done and keep doing for all us silver hairs.

That looks pretty sweet, although it does look like the joystick gets in the way of the paddle with the larger knob, as well as the knob getting in the way of the joystick. At least you can pop it off. I just took delivery of a GSP just this past Friday and now just starting to tinker with it. Pretty cool little setup. I ordered brand new one for $80. Only found out about the "refurbs" for like $42 after the fact. Oh well, even for $80, this thing is pretty sweet. Did not modify it yet nor put any ROMs on an SD card yet. That may end up being a weekend project. FYI, I just checked the Etsy page for these paddle knobs and as of this writing, it said there 47 sets in carts, and 30 sets actually bought in the past 24 hours! Seems this little video got an explosion of sales. I just ordered the blue set (I guess that makes it 31 ordered in the past 24 hours 😀).

I think I’d like it better if was slightly smaller (maybe 30%). It’s very cool that it’s the same size as the original paddles but it looks a little cramped on that joystick. I wonder if he can make a scaled down variation.

Neat. But a problem I can see is similar to the problem I had with the 'paddle' on the Hyperkin Ranger. You can't get full rotation because your hand hits the joystick when trying to turn the paddle, which means you have to release your grip and re-grip it to complete the movement. That's just my personal opinion though.

Hopefully, My Arcade makes a Genesis 6 button or SNES style controller . The controller the only thing stopping me from getting that "plug n play" , all those roms that could be added with just 1 button no good 😐
@GenXGrownUp3 ай бұрын
It's worth remembering that this was sold & marketed as an Atari console. All the extra ROM manipulation & expansion was done by hobbyists and not officially supported by My Arcade. If SNES performance is your concern, it's a bit like waiting to buy a refrigerator until it can also toast bagels. 😉

I could see it adding greater accuracy with the bigger knob but something like playing some hardcore Kaboom... I don't think I could put my hand on it and just snap it from one side of the screen to the other. It looks like the stick would get in the way. My hand never came off the knob back in the day. (Then you would have to re-adjust yourself with the paddle).

Pretty sure it isn't painted. That's the cool thing about those super expensive 3D printers, some can have multiple colors of material to print with. Couldn't I just print some myself? I do have a 3D printer now, learning to use it. Not a fancy one, but it would be enough to make these (single color).

I noticed in your video that Kaboom appears under your "Paddle Games" menu on the GSP. I'm curious as to what settings you used in your "games.ini" file to implement this. I have tried "class_type=5", "game_type=15", and "hard=5" because all the other paddle games use these settings. I can get Kaboom to appear under the "Paddle Games" menu, but the paddle controller itself does not function. Thanks for your help!
@GenXGrownUp3 ай бұрын
Sounds like you've got a handle on getting it in the Paddle Games. To get the paddle to work, you just spoof the GSP by naming the ROM and supporting files one of the pre-installed paddle games (i.e. Night Driver or Circus Atari). User-facing all says Kaboom, but behind the scenes, GSP thinks is has multiple copies of the same game which uses paddles.
@BrianArnold-g9j3 ай бұрын
@@GenXGrownUp Thanks, I'll give that a try!

It looks useful but I think the size of the new paddle will damage the original one in the long run as it is not made for the larger surface area.

The paddle is the best part of the controller. No issues with that. The rest of the controller is more questionable. If my Arcade reads any of these it should be clear improvement is needed. Question for anyone. I know Turbo Grafx can be played but has anyone tryed the CD games? Reason I asked is that I believe Mega CD games work as long as the bios is there?
