Fantastic video , LIKED / SUBBED & SHARED, I don't even HAVE an AtariVCS but having fun just the same for testing purposes restoring the OS to various PC's , laptops, and much to my surprise even an old 2011 Macbook, each has had some kinks, no sound, no wifi, but networking works with platforms where I have ethernet and I have heard audio is restored for some using an external usb audio adaptor, I wont invest in such things as I am just tinkering and testing with what I have but even the option of running AtariOS on better hardware live of a USB stick has been....intersting.

Thanks for the video; could you try to put a minecraft server on it at a later date?

Can anyone help me just get my VCS 800 to boot back up normally to the Atari OS, instead of asking me everytime I turn it on if I want to go to "Apertis v2020" or "Reboot Into Firmware Interface," please? I just want it to go back to default, where it boots directly to Atari OS.

Woah! Slow down! I've been pressing esc on the keyboard during reboot and I either get a black screen or no image sent to my TV. How or exactly when do you press esc?

Ok so I was trying to install windows on my new m.2 drive I put in but every time I try to install it it fells. The only way that I could get it to install was if I deleted all other partitions, witch delete all the memory from my VCS os. Is there anyway to do a dule boot with the m.2 drive I installed and the other internal drive ?
@RetroAxis3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like an issue with the Windows installer? I have never installed Windows on my VCS, only Linux. With Linux, you use a custom partition layout and avoid the internal drive.

Great video, I’m totally new to pc’s and all that goes with it, I tried installing Ubuntu and everything was going fine until it ran into an error and froze the system. Tried it again and it all worked however I think that the first time I tried to install it it has took up some of my storage. I’d like to pretty much factory reset the system with only the Atari os remaining and give the whole pc mode another go from scratch. Do you know of a way to do this? Thanks
@RetroAxis4 жыл бұрын
Did you take a backup first? Otherwise, you'll need the factory restore image : drive.google.com/file/d/1ijoCj5nJFkLf6ftumxfxm1QI0ji3wpQq/view

@@RetroAxis I didn’t take a back up no, so I’d just have to re flash a usb stick and install that to the VCS?
@RetroAxis4 жыл бұрын
So you would need to flash that image from Atari onto a USB drive, yes.

@@RetroAxis great, thanks for the help, would I need to do anything with the current os that is on the VCS? Delete it or anything?
@RetroAxis4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you partitioned. You mentioned it took some of your storage, so it likely resized one of the drive partitions. I would start from scratch, and restore the VCS is, then re do.

Is dual boot via pc mod the next step ? You can use another SSD to have a different OS. And then émulation I guess 😈
@RetroAxis4 жыл бұрын
That is correct. I ordered the additional SSD (and RAM) for this unit. I am currently installing RetroArch (trying to get it up in running) on OpenSuSe using the Text Console with Framebuffer. Depending on the results, I may switch back to Lubuntu. Once I have it figured out, I'll wipe it all out and make a video of it getting setup.
@bjpa11514 жыл бұрын
@@RetroAxis awesome! You can try standalone emulators too. Retroarch is great for everything Bellow N64 and PS1. I personally prefer to use standalone emulators. I hope you'll test PS2/3 émulation and GC, Wii and Wii U
