AtariVox+ with Champ Games Wizard of Wor Arcade!

Giving Wizard of Wor Arcade by Champ Games another try, but now using it with the AtariVox+ to get the voice effects!

Tom Campbell Not easily like a real Atari 2600 in the 2nd joystick port*. Also advanced bank-switch cartridges that speak like *Wizard Of Wor Arcade* do not work in the cartridge dumper. The advanced game rom files do work from SD card. *The AtariVOX+ plugged into an _Atari-to-USB adapter_ does work with Stella on computers, so the RetroN77 _may_ be able - if RetroN77 runs the proper USB protocol, if Stella is configured properly, and if the AtariVOX is connected through an _OTG cable_ to the RetroN77’s one USB port.

This has replaced my 5200 WOW as my favorite atari version . The voice is outstanding and just adds to the immersion We need a 5200 with voice version.

The Atari 8-bit and Bally Astrocade versions are great, but the Champ Games conversion with the AtariVox is phenomenal. The 8-bit Atari version by Roklan is only superior by virtue of having a larger playfield. But this is the first home translation for a “classic” system with voice support. Champ Games consistently “knocks it out of the park” with their retro-game products. Wizard of Wor was such a great game “back in the day” that gamers are still playing it FOUR DECADES LATER.

I use an Atari 7800 for 2600 games. You can't plug an AtariVox+ directly into a stock 7800, but there are three ways to use an AtariVox+ with a 7800: 1. Remove the AtariVox+ from its shell. 2. Use an original Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Controller Extension Cable (the aftermarket cable from Retro Bits will not work). 3. Cut the 7800 shell around Controller Port 2 to make more room). I currently have several 2600/7800 homebrews that support the AtariVox+, including Wizard of Wor Arcade.

This sound better than the Colecovision version, the voice is easier to understand and plays during game play as you are fighting and not just between levels and the sound effects are more accurate to the arcade version. It is truly amazing for what system it's on.

This version looks awesome to the max! I should be receiving my copy of Galagon coming some time this week. After that I'm not sure which game I want for the 2600...there are so many great games on the AtariAge store.

This is a great Homebrew by champ games! I think I still like the look and sounds of the Bally Arcade version with the exception of the voice. The voice really is a great addition and brings it closer to the Arcade than any other console.

This is one of my favourite two player co-op games of all time. I have always preferred the 8 bit Atari computer version, but this is astounding on 1977 hardware.

Allows you to have voice synthesis on a Atari 2600/7800 or Vectrex :) plus have a high score save feature as well. its pretty cool
