Because he's way better and she's a female. It doesn't have to be in a mysoginistic or "women can't dance" type of way, many males are raised to be soft on women in general and I've actually seen it happen in dance battles.

Atazhan did his thing in this one, no doubt about that. But, please do not sleep on Toyin and her abilities. She could've slayed him if she really wanted to. And the oveezealous crowd hyping up Atazhan's every move was so unnecessary and made it annoying to watch. I really hope this doesn't become a frequent thing.

@@timothygats He gets credit and respect, that is not lacking on my end. He has incredible speed, creativity, and precision. He did his thing. However, Toyin has the speed, precision, creativity, along with variety, knowledge, musicality, etc. In my perspective, she outranks him as a house dancer. What she did NOT have in this particular battle is a hyped crowd worshipping her every move. Also, what she did lack in this battle was energy; someone else made a good point about the OG's reserving energy because they are just too certain they'll make it to the next rounds, treating the minor battles as if they're insignificant. This is where she messed up. He came with the heat, dancing as if it was his last time dancing at the festival. That is why he won this battle, not because he's actually a better dance, but because his attitude was right and he deserved that win ...

Based on the dances vocabulary that Toyin has at her disposal ( hip hop, house, Afro, ragga) she could easily destroy him if only she was paying attention to the music and trying to differ from him with smooth smoves + groove. Athazan got explosive moves and nice bboy combo however, he ain't got no house groove at all and has a limited musicality. Sometimes too messy and even off-beat. He should slow down the pace, add some energy variation but most importantly get some house groove.

Just because Toyin has her reputation does not mean she can go easy at a competition. I've seen her battle in person but ill admit she's good, but 100% give it to Atazhan because he came out hard and was on beat. That's the problem with all these OG, big name, whatever you want to call them are doing. Its exposing them to politics in the competitive scene and it needs to fuckin stop because its bringing morale down for people who want to compete. Its good that he came out explosively because that's probably how he's expressing himself to the music from what i am assuming through his dance. I enjoy watching Atazhan dance in this video.

Scott Fibanacci Toyin is not a basic dancer. She executes very difficult moves perfect clean. Go watch her other battles of last year. Santa vs Toyin.

Again, Toyin vs Santa, i saw that battle last year and just recent, Toyin be getting away with bias ass votes. but hey, it's just my opinion, like it counts since im not a judge.

I think she definitely possesses the talent to have won this, but it does seem like she was reserving energy because she was overconfident in knowing she was going to compete for much longer. There are folks who have to give their 100% during all battles, like it is their last moment of dance, and she should've done the same. I want to say that her holding back could've been due to something else we aren't privy to knowing (negative emotions, injury, etc.), but it's hard to make that assumption since I also have seen many OG's play the same card. That's a perspective I did not consider. good point ...

yet he got all 5 judges to vote for him....and why do you assume all house dancer have to be "smooth". That's far from the case my guy...have the dancers in this competition are far from smooth yet they are able to compete at high level.
