You make it look so easy! The Vets usually place the catheters at the office I work at, so I haven't been able to try placing one yet. This video helped show me how to help assist in placing a catheter too though. There was no mess! That's crazy. You and your technician did a great job!

Just finished my first semester at my RVT program and landed my first job at a veterinary clinic. I asked for stuff to study up on while my job was on a 2 week winter break and placing catheters was one of my assignments since I'm still very new to this field. This video was so straightforward and gave me good insight. Thanks!

Learning to do this now as an assistant at our clinic. We normally will use that fourth piece of tape to make the seatbelt for the catheter. We also never let go of it to ensure it stays in the vein while taping, so we tape with one hand but your method seems so much easier.

If only all our patients were as perfect as this dog lol. I was shadowing at a clinic the morning of a Husky spay and that dog refused to go down. She was determined to eat everyone, even after she was pre-medicated she needed a muzzle and a cone way before the surgery even started, and the moment she woke up from surgery she still tried to eat us. Haha, gotta love dogs.

That dog looks so brave! I like the way the assistant keeps him quiet while they do this. My doctor keeps me quiet by letting me snuggle up with my baby doll that I have. I cannot have children so I have little cherish. She's been with me through thick and thin and some of you might think I'm crazy for having her, but it helps me be strong and brave in moments like this

The cephalic is actually on the side and the accesory is on the middle. Once the two combine and it extend from that meet, then it turns into cephalic.

Your reason for using the main cephalic vein rather than an accessory vein makes a ton of sense. At about 2:19, it looks like you placed the catheter distal to where the accessory veins and and main cephalic vein come together. Was that placement relative to where the veins meet intentional?
@madisonforeman2489 Жыл бұрын
The vein that runs over the top of the leg is actually the accessory. The vein that runs medially is the true cephalic.

As a (french) human's nurse i am AMAZED how easily to put this IV on. Poking on human's veins shouldn't be a problem at all for you :) And a green one though !! Don't you have to use a tourniquet to pop the veins out on animals? Or is it just because this one dog already has congested veins? What a good doggy yu have here :)

Are you concerned at all that if the IV blows out or swelling occurs that it could lead to problems bc the tape dosent stretch or expand and it’s wrapped circumferentially
