Man, I wasn't entirely sure what you would think of this one, really glad that you enjoyed it so much. This is probably the most impressive track i know of in the Atelier series, but the others are definitely nothing to sneeze at. I felt compelled to try the games out after listening to just a few tracks. For a bit of context, Atelier is a JRPG series with alchemy as its central focus, and they're usually more on the cute and lighthearted side, so you're right about the contrast between the music and the artwork. New games are released every year or two, with the upcoming game being the 23rd main entry in the series, and some of them are more polished than others, but the soundtracks never fails to impress.

I'll say up front: The entire Atelier series is a rather modest series of games that you experience as a rather pleasurable romp-- interspersed with some absolute landmine-explosions of amazing music that blindsides you out of nowhere in the best way possible. You may end up with some more surprises from these games in time! In general, be warned: Cute anime games go HARD in the paint.

God, every song Hayato Asano touches is incredible. He takes this same style into full electronic in the Blue Reflection series (His first solo game soundtrack. The second game just came out fairly recently and he did it again) and its probably my favorite game soundtrack of all time. He left GUST a while back to work Freelance and is doing amazing, and deserves every second of his success.

Oooh noice Atelier music ♡ Even if it looks sugary the series has some certifted bangers and hauntingly beautifull songs. Esp the Dusk trilogy is pretty dark when looked under the surface. On that note "Sky of Twilight" from escha and logy is extremly nice and hype and "Rusty Sky" from Shalie is just gosebumps forever

KZbin recommendations brought me here, and I love your channel man, it's really cool to see someone reacting to videogames OST from someone who knows music compositions. It would be really cool if you can react to some of the music tracks from Granblue Fantasy! Such Paradise Lust and Paradise Lost, Zero, Ultimate Bahamut theme, and stuff like that. Those songs were composed by Nobuo Uematsu and Tsutomu Narita.

OH! A reaction to Atelier music! I love the games so much and have played almost every of them except for the three newest ones (from the new era, PS3 onwards), so this was such a pleasant surprise ♥ I didn't recognize the song by its title but the moment it played, everything in me went nostalgia and happiness, even though I never did this optional boss fight. Hearing the music makes me want to play the one I have already bought and not touched yet so much! And I need to look up whether I can find the old PS and PS2 games somwhere, I'm aiming to have played EVERY (main) entry in the franchise.

I don't know how often people recommended soundtracks from the Trails series but there is an arrange version with a very sick guitar in it. Here is the name of the soundtrack, i highly, highly recommend this track - Sora no Kiseki FC & SC Super Arrange Version - The Enforcers To give context: In Trails of Cold Steel 4 this track was played before the final bossfight. There is mysterious character on the side of the villains who is considered to be the strongest. Over the entire series you have no chance to fight him but in every new game you force him to use a bit more of his power. The climax is the 4th game in which he uses his full power for the first time. The moment was very great because over the years in the games, you worked hard to finally figure out was his deal was. And he has a good origin story which gave the overall mythology of the game a nice 180°.

I love almost any soundtrack in Gust games, even if I'm not a fan of the games themselves. Springwind Skylark is such a nice battle theme from Atelier Sophie, and it's the very first battle theme you get. I feel like others will mention Atelier tracks, so I'll try another Gust game. Nights of Azure may have been mostly fanservice, but all its soundtrack is worth a listen. "Sad Vampire" is a remix of a much earlier Atelier track. "Malicious Roses" and "Indignation" are great dungeon themes, and so is "Lady Crimson", the overworld theme and by its name, the main character's theme. "Girl of the Opera" is one of my favourite boss themes, "Edge of Apocalypse" and "Floral Crown" don't fall too far behind.

Japanese music industry is just too powerful. Something you notice when playing their games, is that even their low-budget games made by local groups of several people, get really high quality music. That's just how easy it is to get by and hire a good composer/band to do music for you.

One song I recommend that's kinda short but has a good beat, is The legend of Dragoon menu music, its famous by the fans for being unreasonably catchy for a song that only plays while in the menu. Similar to how battle toads has a catchy beat while paused, for no reason at all.

Anyway on the subject of indie JRPGs my favourite non-combat Trails song might be the one from this kind of science dungeon you come back to every little while in cold steel 4, Synchronicity #23. It's so painfully short that I think you should straight up loop it at least once, but it's also just some of the best high energy zone music around, which is perfect when you've got the adorable Tia Russell helping direct the action, and also there's some weirdos who constantly hate on the composer Singa for having a different direction than the other trails lead and I wanna give him more love.

I'd heard music from Atelier Ryza, and I loved how happy it is. I found even the boss themes pretty light hearted. The only theme that was super serious was the final boss theme and it was epic. Which leads me to believe this may be that, but either way it's awesome and a very dynamic/surprising theme.
