alternately you can use Reinforced Zettel, Traveler Orb, Super Pure Water loop synth: 999 rein zettel with Synth Quantity +2 using essence 999 traveler orb with Spread Effect +2 also trait Quality++ /+ if possible dupe accordingly 1 orb per 10/12 zettel then craft Super Pure Water add 1 Traveler Orb add 1 [gasses] add as much rein zettel as musch as possible pick quality++/+ as traits destroy super pure water for gem rinse and repeat all info above obtained from jp wiki

Thank you for the tip!! It felt so incredible when I cashed in all those Ancient Philosopher's Stones and instantly got myself a crazy amount of gems that I never even fathomed to have before lol! Gotta love how you can get your way by cleverly using the system and the effects. Another thing to mention about that vendor of Ether Cores in the last dungeon: it's especially not ideal because the items he sells are changing randomly every day! And the Ether Cores are only available like 1 day out of 5, and you have to check, rest, check again, rest, check again, until he finally has them for sale. I know because I had to do that... 3 times for more Ether Cores. I wanted to keep hoarding the 2 great Ether Cores I had gotten during the story, and I planted 20 Mystic Seeds with maxed out effects (at least without using essences) in the garden upon your info and they didn't give me ANY Ether Core! So they're actually very rare to farm using the seeds, but maybe I really have to use an essence and get the Rare Gather effect to XXL to really have a chance. Also for those looking into the vendor: while at first the Ether Cores he sells will have very low quality, after the second time I bought them from him the quality changed and it became very good!! (but maybe that's because I developed the shops at Romy's in the meantime... not sure) Anyway, it took me a bit of time preparing everything, but once I had your system functional, I instantly had access to unlimited gems, as I'm keeping a sample of each of the Quantity+3 ingredients and I can just farm more gems this way whenever I want! So thanks again for this clever trick!

They aren't that rare at all from seeds, but they MUST be rank S to spawn Ether Cores as drops, AND you must have them at LEAST "discovered" (so the earliest you can get them that way is after defeating the first stone soldier boss in the fire village, for anyone reading this without being that far in). Rare Gather Effect XXL and Gather Up Effect XXL just give you more quantity of drops that you can possibly roll up as Ether Cores. With all 10 plants I typically get 7-10 Cores, which is more than you'll ever need, really; you can make a shitton of Philosopher's Stones (start from mixing oil, get to Spirit Bottle, add a Lapis Papillion, and then dump a ton of Poison Cubes with Synth Quantity +3's until you have 2 left, then put in the alchemy paint and septrin, then continue up through the crystal element to the Philosopher's Stone and then max out the PS as much as possible using essences for synth quantity and essence spread) fairly cheaply, and then use them to power through the craft for Ether Engines and pump out a ton of those, as well. Then you just need to make a couple Ancient Philosopher Stones using the same routing plan for the first Philosopher's Stone, switching the essence that it gets and the item type (so at least four crafts). After that you can just slam out some high rank Ancient Philosopher Stones crafted up with the cheap-to-dupe low level stones, engines, and cartridges you already have made (getting synthe quantity +3's on the engines and cartridges), and then you can convert all the high rank ones into gems for a ton of gems as a gem engine. Use the higher rank traits you can too, like stats charge, to get easy item quality rank ups.

@@KainYusanagi Aaaah it must be that mines weren't rank S then. Now I don't remember what rank my seeds were but it's possible they weren't S ranks, I likely thought that I didn't need to focus on the rank/quality/traits since it was just gonna be seeds to use, and that as long as I had good enough effects it would work, BUT now that I think about it, they DID make an item's quality matter more in this game than on previous Atelier games (a high quality bomb will inflict more damage, etc) so maybe the rank matters too and they counted that for a seed's drops rate too. That's likely what happened and why I got so unlucky. Thanks for the info, I platinum'ed the game now but I'll remember that for the future ^^ And for the recipe, too :D

TL;DW: Get an ether engine and a philosopher stone, and get cross cartridge with quantity +3. Dupe all of them, but get ~10 cross cartridges for each of the other ingredient. Craft ancient philosopher stones with as many cross cartridges as you can at once and convert them into gems. To be more optimal, create an ether engine and philosopher stone with quantity +3 and add some 5* traits to them. On your philosopher stone, also try to get effect spread +3 and value +3, and wind element. If you aren't at endgame yet, look at other comments for alternative patterns.

So not to be a downer or anything (I LOVE your videos and you've helped me in many Atelier games; you're seriously awesome) but uh... ...Edelhard LOL. Just use essence to max the gem reduction trait, get it to item level 99, and it reduces for far more than it duplicates for. It's a lot simpler and you can still duplicate other element items for essence. This is tried and true, but Edelhard just breaks the game lol :'D

I think your advice for the Philosopher's Stones is off. You say to aim for Synth Quantity +3, but also for Effect Spread +4, and Add Wind. Problem is, all three of those require essence, and you can only use two essences per craft. This ends up being an issue, because if you choose the "wrong" two of those three, you're only going to unlock one trait slot, keeping your Ancient Philosopher's Stones from being S rank. Upon actually repeat viewing and pausing, it looks like you went with using essence on the Effect Spread and Add Wind loops, leaving the Synth Quantity at +2. This should indeed do the trick, but it directly contradicts with you saying earlier that Synth Quantity +3 was the primary goal. Edit: Can confirm, using essence on Effect Spread +4 and Add Wind did the trick. Only one less Ancient Philosopher's Stone per craft, but they're all S-rank now, instead of A, which equates to a lot more gems overall.

Well... The main tricky thing here is the seeds. There is confusing info about this in the internet, and you can find Rare gather XXL and Trait lvl up XXL, keeping quantity XL and they still seem to get ether cores, and in other video the guy had only XL in all effects (not a single XXL anywhere) and he still gets cores (wtf). The problem is that you have to replicate at least 10 to do the test and it is very time/resources consuming, given that you can´t use essence when item rebuild, so you have to start from scratch and replicate whenever you wanna change effects lvl. Right now, my only hope is to change to XXL in quantity, because it did not work for me yet with 999, gahter XXL, trait XXL, quantity XL and growth XL, and i tried 50 times already.

How did you get your philosopher's stone get effect spread+4, synth quantity+3, AND add wind element, when you can only use 2 essences per synthesis? this is the one thing i absolutely cannot figure out atm, appreciate any help! EDIT: Nevermind, I've realized that the stones you're using only have synth quantity+2 so you can get ES+4 and wind.

Want to have infinite gems? Buy the DLC. Aside from new dungeons, it also contain special items that correctfully crafted can give more gems than those need for duplication. Duplicate, reduce all except for one, duplicate the remanining one, repeat.

Question: in your video, you say Cartridge loops into Ether Engine, and Ether Engine loops into Philosopher’s Stone. Am I missing something, or was that a slip up? I don’t see a node to enter it anywhere.

you need a cartridge to make an engine, and engine is required to make a stone, they also fall into the metal catagory and iirc the mystery catagory

@@Primalliquid92 I couldn’t find anywhere to enter the Engine in the original stone, but it didn’t really matter, since it only meant I had to copy the stones more often. Of course I did find a node for it in the ancient stone, which is the final purpose, so it doesn’t matter, really.

i know it extemely late for this comment but i found more stupid way to make gem fast all u need is find a way to make [ANOTHER PLANET] make it as best as u can and in the effect 4 [gem reduction gain] make it XL after u made 1st one dupe as much as u can then sell all of em but left 1 to dupe more. profit [in my game playing now. gem gain is 13893 per 1 item .dupe cost 4988 per 1] for morph chain u need Morph Chain:Mixing Oil -Alchemy Paint -Spirit Bottle -Another Planet Polishing Powder- Pearl Crystal -Amberlite- Spirinite-Saint's Diamond -Arc en Ciel i suggest make best arc en ciel for ez effect spread

No, think about it. When the ancient Phil stone was originally made. the "phil stone" might have just been a generic item. but as time went on and people forgot/could make an ancient one anymore then the normal "phil stone" would have just taken its place as an easier but weaker item.

Try to add the quality+, best quality and high quality traits to the items you are uaing to create it and then select them to increase the final quality if its not maxed

It depends on the trait quality and rank. Easiest way for improvement is max Critical++ or HP++, as they go to 99. I farm using a different method because I can't be assed with gathering ether cores and even with only 1 trait it jumps up the elemental result from 3 to 5 in one go. Tried it with attack++ and it only got to 4.

You have to get it from a mini boss drop near end game or if you have access to make max traited and quality mystic seeds you can get them through there

Ether Core is a rare drop; it may not drop. If it doesn't and you want your OP gem collection before the next ruin, reload your save and try again. Once you get one, farm Golden Seeds like mad to get two more, then this video becomes possible.

To add to what others have said, base recipes from the skill tree, yes, but also, recipe morph is extremely important. Many really good recipes are morphs from other recipes. For example, the humble Mixing Oil is what eventually leads to the Philosopher's Stone. Way more recipes are from recipe morph than in the first game, and unlike the first game, the only recipes you get from the story and quests are for quest items.

you can pretty much do it with anything that has Synth Quanitity +2 and allows you put said item back into itself. i wouldnt suggest doing it early though as there are other better early farms

There isn't even any need to do this. There's an item you can make with Gem Reduction Increase XL that makes it so that it converts to more gems than it costs to make. By a lot. Can't remember what it's called but it's a blue ball looking thing. Infinite gems with no need to ever touch crafting more than once.
