While I'm agree this is one of best or better Atelier game than the past, I notice Ryza has a few oddities. I'm played almost all atelier games except Dusk Series. In term of story and quests/side quests, they give more details so every quest in Ryza feels meaningful (okay story but not too amazing). It's good. Graphics ofc better, but some pc user said it has many holes such as high spec run very low fps. But the most odd point in my view is THE ALCHEMY system itself correlated with the story pace. While I loves the system, long time atelier gamer will play more around alchemy and since no time limit like Lulua, there's big chance that Atelier veterans will get overlevelled quickly, while you are only 1/4 or 1/3 start of the game. Even before clearing meteor castle story, I got access to Super Pure Water and my alchemy level around 58. The point, even in very hard diff, u trample everything except post game super boss. The game is super kind to give us so many material access early. The game became boring after that, but overall its an OK Atelier game. B+ score.
@JairusC4 жыл бұрын
This is my first Atelier. My friend bought it for me for Christmas because I had gushed about the music in the game. I've heard from many that this is the best one in the series and I'm glad that I got to experience it. In terms of the story and gameplay, I'd like to say that it's a very lovely and laid back piece. Following the entire gang going through their day to day and wanting to experience new things is great. I really loved that. Additionally, the crafting was surprisingly fun! Finding out what's new to craft and then remembering where recipe pieces are is so exciting. Felt like a kid when I was rushing over to grab the ingredients and then create the item. Anyhow, overall, I highly recommend this game to everyone as well and also resonate with that bit mentioning to at least listen to the music. It's absolutely lovely.

huh? The positive stuff you said is quite common (Hades is an action RPG with great character development and far superior art). 2:40 poor flow of story, others say it takes 8 hours to get started. I got better things to do, maybe even catch up on games people made through Wargroove (I'll take bad acting over slow stories any day of the week). But yeah Zwei the Ilvard Insurrection and Viola were super compelling too, and Celestian Tales Old North has its moments (got on sale for $2). Atelier is like $60 and I know I had a blast going through Brave Dungeon on the 3DS for about $5 (Switch includes Dark Witch Story for $9, $7 on sale now). There are so many games now that I don't even check upcoming stuff; I'd just be leery when mobile games get a huge switch tax like free labyrinth of the witch being $15 or knights of pen and paper. Switch alone, just doing a search: Romancing Saga 3 is pending a remake, open-ended multiple characters (but very difficult, do like the quick exit for towns). Octopath Traveler too, though I felt the story kinda dragged. Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every buddy :) roguelike Dawn of the Breakers seems like a fun free action RPG, glad I was looking to try that out. Mercenaries Saga Chronicles (has all 3 strategy rpg's) Shame the grandia collection was a lazy port, but I think you get my point; nintendo has a great filter for their games honestly. www.nintendo.com/games/game-guide/#filter/:q=&dFR[categories][0]=Role-Playing&dFR[platform][0]=Nintendo%20Switch Just saw star story: the horizon escape on sale for $1; I learned to be flexible about genres wanting a good story (heck even the wolfenstein games have good stories). www.nintendo.com/games/detail/star-story-the-horizon-escape-switch/

Favourite so far, Dragon Quest 11, orrrr the Golden Sun’s on GBA if that counts? They’re the only ones that have kept my atttention. Thought Ive only played a handful. Persona 4, Digimon Digital Slueth series and a few more.. found them very repetitive and forced 😖 Though this one looks great!
@Ashwoodbane5 жыл бұрын
Good choices! I need to check out golden sun at some point 😌
@mewichigo34105 жыл бұрын
Golden Sun is pretty unique. There's one on the DS as well which I thought was quite good. Have you played any of the "Tales of" series? Octopath Traveler is also amazing though I won't say it isn't repetitive. All RPGs are, but the good ones make you forget that you're just doing the same thing over and over. XD

I started on Atelier Ayesha and loved the art style and music. Unfortunately I sucked the first time and got a bad ending with the time limit issue. But the entire Dusk trilogy is coming next year which had my favourite Escha and Logy. So looking forward to that! I remember being impressed by Sophie - the first Atelier on Ps4, and now the Ps4 has I think 6 Atelier games not including remasters! This is a fast moving series.

I regret purchasing it on PC in some ways - having it portable would be amazing. But I got it about a week earlier and have a higher frame rate so it kind of evens out. I’ve only played a sizeable chunk of Rorona and this - but Atelier certainly hits the relaxing vibes well. The plot is never overly dramatic and it’s very slow paced. Ryza has great summer vibes - sun, ocean, cicadas and adventure. The music on this title is a significant step up from the Atelier norm which is great to hear. Great review and I suspect quite a number of people will play Ryza first which is totally fine.

Do you have to play the games in order?
@PHeMoX4 жыл бұрын
Your math is bugged if these scores result in 85%. It's 70%. 8,7,7,7,6 = 7. Having said that 85% sounds more accurate for what the game is in some ways, but I wouldn't recommend getting it at full cost at all. And yes I get how you do cumulative scoring, but it's dumb. Why not make all scores matter for the total through averaging them, instead of cumulative scores which are way too easy to get a high score with. There's no way you guys would ever score a game sub-50% or possibly even sub-75%, even when it definitely deserves it.
@SwitchUpYt4 жыл бұрын
You could argue that perhaps other channels go over the top and just slap a very low number on some games because they don't like them. We consider every aspect of a game which seems the fairest way to do it. If one aspect is good, it will pull the score up a bit but if it's genuinely bad, it will get the low score it deserves no matter what system people use.

With little spoilers the story actually quite serious (no comedy fiesta like Mana Khemia, but also not quite fun and relaxing as Mysterious Series). Comparing with Firis which also the same adventurous open world theme, Ryza has more intense vibes. This is the only Atelier game when I feel quite emotional with the story (the background childhood story is cliche, but also has realism in it). Its subjective ofc. Mostly Atelier is a game for relaxing. While its still retain the slice of life elements, Ryza actually Atelier with little or moderate political references (even its only for small island/village context). It's gives meaningful simple messages (at least for me). Ofc the biggest cores of jrpg story also there, the power friendship amd dreams. Hope that gives small illustration to you!
