We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls 😊 The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

What a nice house !!! Well done ...congrats !! Just put an offer in a stone house in Portugal.....but not sure what to do ... I drywall is the best isolation or hemp and lime.... would appreciate any directions....

Thank you! Drywall doesn't have insulation properties, so definitely hemp and lime!

I wonder what the benefit of putting the plaster in is, besides the aesthetics. Does it help with thermoregulation? It seems the beautiful rock wall might help with noise dampening?

This is indeed a thermoplaster, made of lime and hemp, offering a thermal correction to the cold stone walls by regulating the humidity in the air

@@ateliermavi Je m'en doutais. Surtout n'optez pas pour un poêle à granulés, mais pour un bon poêle en fonte, voire un poêle de masse si vos hivers sont très froids. Quoique avec votre super-isolation, le simple poêle suffirait et il est moins cher. Ainsi, pas de dépendance à l'électricité ni à la fourniture.

Very! Lime and hemp are both hydrophilic and their combination makes a great breathable material
