James wouldn't have rushed home if he thought the gun was locked up.

The Defense Lawyer worked hard to trip up this expert witness to get him to say that an unloaded gun is "safe" and no need to secure it any other way. He didn't trip.

James lied on the gun ownership application by saying it was for himself, not a gun to gift his troubled, 15yo s.

riddles are somewhat enigmas so your comment is redundant ...enigma is a synonym for riddle and vice versa......

She’s trying to make it sound like there’s something there that exonerates her client even though it doesn’t seem to be the case. She’s at least more competent than the shooter’s mom’s attorney, but she’s only got so much to work with…

Theres little point in this defense stating the amount of places to safely store a gun, when the parents didnt store it safely. This defense only makes statements and dosent ask questions. Her voice makes my ears bleed, its like nails on chalkboard.

The defense attorney yells and talks in fast circles, I have such a hard time trying to figure out what the he’ll she’s asking… take a breath and slow down…

And she makes statements, rather than asks questions-wouldn’t that possibly prejudice the jury, if only subconsciously? She is making it impossible to listen…

Sadly Special Agent Elf, doesn't know he can easily, have those ears fixed. WHY would ANYONE walk around like that? It's all I see when looking at him.

I agree that the parent's were negligent in many ways. But the school was negligent by not checking James' backpack for weapons. Had they done that, none of those student's would have been shot. The school failed to keep their student's safe.

Two things can be true at the same time. This trial, is about the father’s culpability and negligence.

Based on testimony the school didn’t have reasonable suspicion to search the bag. Had the student acted differently or parents given them more information it’s possible school personnel would have had legal authority to search the student’s belongings.

By law, the school may not be allowed to check a backpack without a clear cause-all the councilors said that no mention of guns- plus the kid hadn’t shown or mentioned the gun to anyone- the parents clearly didn’t want to be bothered with any issues- that is why the subject of guns was never brought up- I agree that at least one counselor should have asked the parents about guns since there was the question of possible suicide

If I were the father, after attending the meeting with the school and seeing the drawings and notes that his kid put on the math quiz, at a minimum I would have raced home after the meeting to be sure that the gun was still there. I just can't imagine how the parents left that meeting and went about their normal business, knowing what the school didn't know -- that they had gifted their kid with a gun for Christmas. What killed those kids was the Crumbley parents' complete lack of judgement and absence of common sense. @@JoeO.
