The thing I liked most about this judge is that she ordered that Darrell have his earnings garnished by 50%. So, unless his mother gives him money - which she might - everytime he goes to the commissary to buy snacks and stuff, he'll have a lot less. He'll look at the person in front of him in the queue and the person behind him, and notice he has a lot less than them. He's going to be uncomfortable for the rest of his life.

And I honestly hope that child support takes the rest. This man somehow has 4 children, all whom he is not supporting financially. I hope they take the rest of the commissary for child support. I’m guessing his mom and possibly female family members, girlfriends or friends might pay on his books. So half goes to his victims, and the other half to his children and he’s left with nothing. While there are Son of Sam laws in many states to prevent criminals from profiting off of their crimes; multiple state level supreme courts have struck down the Son of Sam laws in their states as unconstitutional. With regards to Son of Sam laws it's a very delicate balance between freedom of speech and profiting from tragedy.

It's good we can't understand, because for them, they are incapable of having a conscience. They are sick. He also said that some people are simply born evil. I believe Brooks is one of those people. He has no shred of guilt or compassion for his victims. His eyes are dead. True evil.

I can't be sure of this; but I think Wisconsin has what are known as "Son of Sam" laws in place to forbid criminals from profiting off of their crimes. These laws were passed in the 1970's and 1980's out of the fear that David Berkowitz aka the Son of Sam might possibly seek a book deal or movie contract and thus profit from his crimes. Many state level Supreme courts have struck down Son of Sam laws as unconstitutional. With regards to "Son of Sam" laws it is a very delicate balance between freedom of speech and profiting from tragedy.

Unless he scores a Netflix deal, it will be decades before he earns even one cent he can call his own.

It irritates me that this attorney(I guess doing his job) is stating, "fining him is just further punishment, and what about his kids?" he wasn't taking care of his kids before he went to jail! He also has a brand new baby he created, just before the parade, and doesn't seem to be w/any of the previous women he already has kids with(he said it himself in his closing arguments). DB is reckless and should not be able to profit off any of this! 😡

Judge Dorow was smart enough to realize Brooks was aiming for a mistrial and was very careful. Then when there was no fear of that she went for the jugular during sentencing. She has the patience of a saint.
