@robertlawler1387 My thoughts exactly. Keeping ammo outside the home away from your guns is pointless if you have guns for self-defense. But maybe he doesn't. I don't know. My parents started teaching us gun safety when I was very young. We also grew up in 4-H and participated in shooting sports. We knew not to touch any of the guns unless we were supervised or if there had ever been an intruder once we started getting to stay home alone when we were much older. We also weren't suffering from mental illness. I worked in a rural school district as an audiologist and slp where kids still brought their guns to school in their trucks, and gun safety was being taught to the elementary students, and that was in Colorado!

The defense attorney "umm umm" "Wait a second" "umm umm" Just a second" What is that ? Not to mention a constant shuffling of paperwork .
@jayjoy3318 ай бұрын
People make it seem like home intrusions are super common. Their not. Home invasions very rarely happen, no matter where you live in the country. And every gun owner or adult, especially ones with children, should take serious precautions and safety measures with guns. The ammo doesn't have to be kept outside of the home. But every gun should at least be kept in a locked safe and have a cable lock on it. That really is the bare minimum. I think people would be shocked to find out how many shooting accidents happen to little children every year. And guns are the leading cause of death for children. I'm personally a gun owner. I've shot guns my whole life. But that's not the point. The point is about finding the balance between guns and safety. And unfortunately, there are a ton of parents out there like the defendants, who aren't responsible enough to even be parents, let alone be a gun owner.

She’s not a great lawyer, but her strategy here was to run out the clock to the weekend by asking inane questions so they have more time to prepare for the next witness. When I grew up (I’m a grandmother now) my dad was a gunsmith, a hunting outfitter/guide, owned a gun shop, and we always had guns in our home. If we had ever even “considered “ picking up a gun without my dad’s supervision-well, we knew that we would suffer the rather of dad. Don’t get me wrong, he was a gentle, soft spoken man of whom we had great respect. He wasn’t a friend, but he was a fantastic dad. We had boundaries in our home and respected them. After I grew up, my children grew up the same way. Never once did any of them cross those boundaries. They had respect and understood that some things in life are a privilege to be earned, not a right. I think many kids today don’t understand respect, or the difference between privilege and rights. I left them alone. he didnt even have any ammo in house for them i found out years later. they were rifles he got over seas in military during nam he had shipped back. in basement above fireplace had a super old non working shot gun hanging. when i had friends over as a teen yes i took it down to show them few times but i knew it didnt work cause fire pin broke and no shells were in house at all. but still told everyone before they held it to point it at floor and never point at anyone else. yes probably not responsible of me at time but thats the worse i was as a kid. funny thing is parents never taught me any kind of gun responsibility. i just knew from tv or cartoons or something. dad hid them from me instead teaching me and still i figured it out on my own what to do and not do. all my friends on street had 20 guage shot guns or 22 rifles by 13. and had in their bedrooms. but no ammo. yes we held and looked at them but never pointed at anyone and never left bedroom. cause their dad wouldve beat us all and then our dads wouldve beat us when we got home. and by beat i mean a grown man hitting us by hand, belt or board for 30 minutes until we had bruises all over and hurt to walk or lay in bed.

Worst possible scenario played out . A lot of us grew up with guns in our households and a lot haven’t . Exactly who becomes somewhat clear by the comments made. I’m a firm believer in our 2A and I also believe in some gun control . These days guns need to be kept out of the hands of anyone under 25 unless they’ve been proven fit and able to. Noone thinks that their kid will do something so horrible as to hurt anyone in any form much less be a school shooter! And I also understand that everyone here is perfect and would’ve spotted any problem before it was known. Judging by those targets that’s probably not his first time shooting and there were a few guns in the house he could’ve taken . So this gun wasn’t the turning point and was bought long after he made the decision to do what he did
