He just gave the in the video.. channel is key. Step out sideways to the attacker, stay close 1m so you’re in a dual, he won’t pick out a pass because you’re too close. Then channel and be patient to make the tackle

Anyone know any videos about hockey defending that encompass the "flick and go", whereby the attacker flicks the ball over the defender's stick, runs past them and collects the ball, thus beating them? I would like to know some techniques for dealing with this, as it seems to me to be really hard to defend, unless you have good reflexes.
@thijsjanssenvanraay89078 жыл бұрын
Dont stand still while you defend, try to prepare for the worst, everytime your opponent goes for a skill step back so you have room for anticipation. Remember that defending does not equal stealing the ball, try to search for moments when your opponents stick is not connecting with the ball and step in on those moments, these will be the only weak spots.

Move back with the defender and use the jab tackle lol so late
@gijsbon80654 жыл бұрын
You have to lead the battle.. poke and be ready to move backwards. Also keep your stick more vertical, left foot or right foot in front and body sideways protected by your stick. Be ready to accelerate to the direction the attacker wants to go, which is probably forwards. If they keep dribbling high.. keep walking backwards with them and be patient

As a tackler you want to be stable and quick on your feet with small footsteps. I like the use of poke tackle to channel the attacker. I kinda disagree with you on the tackle on the left side of the goal. Once the defender pulls to left and lifts over your flat stick, you are left trying to catch up with the attacker? I think you should keep the deffender pinned to the endline (or side line) when tackling on left and be ready to pick up the ball on your left. Watch old game videos.
@gijsbon80654 жыл бұрын
If you try to tackle on the left they will lift the ball on your feet... and you’ll be on your backhand too, which is a penalty corner possibly
