Previous Chapter: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2KoaHtnjNeHq8k (Sylvanas Punishment) Shadowlands (2022) Cinematics: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2aZdoWPhdOtjcU Hiya Folks! Our first upload of the new update for 9.2.5 is here! This is the epilogue after the epilogue of the ending's ending. This is honestly the favorite part of Shadowlands so far. Despite how messy the expansion got in the middle, this felt like a heartwarming wrap up for Tyrande's story, Anduin & Sylvanas & Calia/Lilian Voss. The new crisp animations for the in-game cutscenes are absolutely beautiful and unique and hope to see it used more going forward like we saw in Sylvanas' Punishment. Now if only we could've gotten the other half of Arthas soul wisp to interact with Jaina & Uther, we'd call it a day! Looking forward to the new World Tree, Shadowform Anduin & Calia's Lightforged Undead army. Hmm. Until next time~!

Thank you, Athelarius, for posting these. Really. I love WOW, have loved it for well over 10 years at this point. What they did with the crap SL expansion killed me. I'm such a sucker I still pay for the game yet haven't played it in months now. So, you taking the time to make these videos keeps me in the loop for what I can barely take lol. How sad is that. But yea you are great at this, and thank you for caring SO much about the lore. I wish I had some kind of power and authority to employee YOU as "Loremaster" of this freaking game, so you could advise on all expansions, lore issues since you clearly care 1000000 times more than the people who are making the decisions for this game. Personal thoughts for this game, Would like to see actual resolution and justice for Kael'thas after his twice-retconning.... Also, Sylvanas essentially got a slap on the wrist for genocide which is ridiculous.

Sylvanas was willingly serving, until she suddenly wasn't, and hasn't been under anyones control in an in-game decade or something. Meanwhile Bolvar should be struggling with the exact same shit Anduin is, as it's way more recent for him as well. Total missed opportunity for building on that neglected relationship and also reestablish Bolvars role in the Alliance now that he's free. It's almost criminal the lost potential of this expansion. Never getting a chance to see Arthas meet his little sister, raised like him under the Light. Never seeing many of our other promised realms of death, like De Otha Side (One dungeon aside.) Never meeting many of our most iconic lost souls, and bringing forth a select few that arguably were not needed. (Kael, buddy, you just weren't on my list. Not like Garrosh.) Never finding Varian or Cairne or any other iconic leaders, particularly those who would have mattered to our classes especially (Imagine meeting Tirion Fordring again playing as a Paladin, canonical Highlord, or a Death Knight getting to meet Arthas one more time!) That's the most frustrating part to me. There were so many characters that mattered to *our* characters... But we never found them. Never got to meet Rheastrasza, that red dragon goblin gal we helped purify and save Wrathion, or tell her that yes, Wrathion is alive and well, a rebellious punk doing more harm than good but still *trying* to be a better prince than his father. Never got to meet... Well. My favourite questline in WoW is a small one, from Darkshire. Where you have to go roaming about this veiled countryside, slaying monstrous Worgen and beating down skeletons, the one monster looming above them all is the vile Mor'Ladim, a skeletal warrior ready to beat down any hapless adventurer. As you journey around, though, you learn the truth; that this undead monstrosity was once a man; Morgan Ladimore. A noble knight of Darkshire, he went to war alongside Uther, and came back to find his family (A wife and kids) missing... told only he'd find them in the nearby cemetery. There, he indeed found tombstones for his wife and two of his children, among many friends and family... And in his grief and rage, lashed out at grave attendants who tried to calm him. Horrified by his murderous lashing out, he drew a dagger on the spot and took his own life... Only to raise from the dead sometime later, a revenant of grief and self-loathing. Yet even in his most monstrous form, Mor'Ladim, he uses both the abilities Enraging Memories, driving him into a frenzy... And *Holy Shock,* a Holy spell for damage, hinting at the good soul buried beneath such trauma and guilt. It is only after knocking the behemoth down we can reveal the truth... That among Darkshire's guards is one Sarah Ladimore, the last child of Morgan, lost and forgotten in the chaos but not dead like her siblings. Knowing that at least one innocent was spared, Morgan gratefully grants us his redeemed sword, the Archeus, and passes on, hoping that the Light is merciful to him for his sins. ...And I never got to meet him to see how his afterlife has been. To know, after so long, that saving his soul back then meant something in the world. Never got something so small, yet so personally meaningful, as to know that this noble knight was spared an eternity of suffering... If anything, he's probably just part of the Bastion anima battery now, and I'd never know. That's what I mean when I say this expansion suffers from lost potential. I never truly expected to see continuation of Rhea or Morgan's stories, they're extremely old tales not every player's even done, or seen. ...But I wish we'd gotten more like that. A lot more than what we got, than watching Tyrande's blood feud or the other dozen or so WC3 era characters getting to show up for spotlight with each other. Anduin's conversation with Sylvanas up here... It's fantastic. Wonderful acting and writing for my standards in this game. But it has nothing to do with my character. Or, really, anyone's but the writers' own. And that's frustrating. I wish we got to matter again. Although if it came down to a choice between not mattering at all and being the center-of-the-universe CHAMPYUN... I don't know. Both kinda suck.

"I feel shame and remorse because I did something bad and I feel even more shame and remorse because it felt kinda fun so I might be a terrible person but I"m not sure." And it's supposed to make sense that he seeks advice from an irredeemable villain who has never felt a twinge of conscience before or after her death. Arthas' dilemma for revenge and justice was brushed off as "sins" and nothing else. At least they could give him some credit for the attempt to drive off the scourge, even though he's done it recklessly and made some dire mistakes, it's the complicity of a character is what makes it great and captivating. I don't like how Blizzard is going with this notion that all characters are "perfect" unless someone controls them to do so.
@Am0nknight12342 жыл бұрын
That's mostly from our viewpoint as the players. To everyone else, he's little more than the guy who slaughtered his people, brought about the downfall of Lordaeron and resurrected those he killed into undeath as slaves to the Scourge. And if that wasn't enough, he would eventually return as the Lich King and threaten all life on Azeroth. Besides, everyone who could bear witness to his struggles and his complexities before his fall either abandoned him at Stratholme or died in Northrend. Nobody is obligated to know or care about Arthas' dilemma. And I quite like that, actually. It makes his fall all the more tragic.

Anduin spoke to good then bad sylvans then good again. You could tell the split personality it's disturbing somewhat. Amazing performance in just seconds. The lost souls returning to the seed to make new life. Tyranda/Elune reaction was priceless. The dragon isles might be the new place night elves reseed Tilderssil. Staying the course with the necrolords made me relate with the forsaken. Pretty wired for a Worgen. We accepted the Worgen curse to overcome the plague. Then we help eradicate it and get in return a promise to return back to Gilneas. This is a vendication I am willing to accept. Gilneans will eventually choose renwal over vengeance themselves. As for blizzard, was this redemption for them? I have no idea.

I think its more in depth that in real life intelligence agencies use torture and trauma to split the mind for the sake of mind control purposes. I can state as a victim of such a program the dilema that Anduin and Sylvanas face is very real as you are forced to do things against your will but it still feels like you are there acting it out like a puppet. It is very hard to describe but it is like the programming shifts your mind until you willfully become what Sylvanas or Anduin were doing. It can be used for all sorts of purposes like covert assassinations, sex slaves, getting people to buy stupid shit they dont need. Convincing you another group of people are your enemy. Mind control is very subtle and horrible to its victims because ultimately after the fact you face a horrible dissonance of not knowing who you are or where your freedom is and you begin to doubt every action or thought. Every negative action you ever took felt like it was your own but it wasnt, yet you are forced to bear the consequences which leaves a stain on you as well as having to deal with the ignorance and judgement of others. I would even ad that when I had an OBE experience in 2012 from government technology killing me and bringing me back to life what I experienced was very similar to what is shown in the warbringers sylvanas cinematic including the black smoke energy and the intense rage. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ6pZpKLipeqrac kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKXFqGN_hM-JntU kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ_SpKl5hplparc kzbin.info/www/bejne/iofTaKyCm9OgqKc#t=2m7s

Not exactly. Arthas was corrupted by the Jailer, and the Jailer wanted to exert direct control over Arthas (and Ner'zhul, and Bolvar), but for the most part, Arthas maintained conscious control over himself during the entirety of the story. Simply put, the Jailer couldn't directly control any of his Lich Kings on Azeroth because they were too far away from him, being in a different dimension and whatnot, so that means that, yes, Arthas DOES deserve the blame for everything he did. And honestly, I prefer it this way, because Arthas being in control of his own evil actions makes him a better written villain than just being a mind-controlled puppet of the Jailer.

Though better than much of WoW's writing, the conversation between Lilian and Calia is dreadfully trite. "So you ran away from the pain," "when I stopped running, I understood," "those people out there ... they're my family now," "We are all the same here, Calia," etc. All such cliches and not compelling at all. The Forsaken, just like the Horde breaking free from the demon blood (sort of, but then following Garrosh), are now Just a Band of Misfits Trying to Make Their Way™. WoW goes too hard on corruption and redemption, poorly balancing between faction-encompassing events and dwelling on leaders... they actually need to work on more individual stories. Flesh out Calia. Don't just have her be sad in the throne room and get a "You belong here with The Misfits" speech.

Yeah I think that interaction was the weakest here. Calia already had this conversation with the Margrave, and then goes on to basically have the same one with Lilian. Where is malfurion in all this madness?? Is he still recovering?
@Damaardk2 жыл бұрын
The burden of making a really strong character is that you can’t have him in the story forever. Malfurion single-handedly defeated an entire horde army and almost killed Sylvanas who defeated the lich king. This is why characters like Malfurion, Khadgar, Velen, Illidan and more will hop in and out of storylines as their mere presence in a storyline would greatly impact story telling. Imagine how the strength and knowledge of Malfurion and Velen could have affected the storyline in shadowlands. Its also why they can feel underwhelming. An example would be Jaina and Thrall whose impact on the story was underwhelming because given their power in lore, they really should’ve done more. Its also the reason why Malfurion has a strong connection to the emerald dream, they have to find an in lore way to keep a strong character in check because using his powers would not make sense in the main story or they will have to make him underwhelming as to shine the main villain of the story. Malfurion can change weather based on his mood, this guy created an vortex that sustains an entire zone, and arguably the strongest mortal on Azeroth. The mere presence of established strong characters in a story will beg the question “why aren’t they doing more?” But also their lack of impact or nonexistence in a story line will beg the question, “where are they?” Its a weird paradox that Blizzard is still struggling with.

So the Nelfs that were raised at Darkshore can rejoin the Alliance now? Doesn't that kind of go against their whole thing and why the Forsaken joined the Horde in the 1st place?
@Vinity162 жыл бұрын
Forsaken has the mentality of choice. When risen they can choose to stay and become part of the Horde, or go their own path. The risen Nelfs always had that choice to go back if they wanted.
@blazer1682 жыл бұрын
@@Vinity16 That's not what i'm saying, I'm saying the Alliance never accepted the Forsaken due to them being Undead and thus incompatible with The Light, so they had no choice but to join the Horde. Now you're telling me the Alliance accept Undead among their ranks? I never said the Forsaken never wanted to join the Alliance I'm saying they were literally forsaken by the Light and the Alliance.

Kinda weird seeing Calia feel uncertainly about the menethil name. Always thought that there were Forsaken who fondly remember King Terenas

I started reading the Sylvanas novel a few days ago. I am half way through, the first chapters hit you hard but there is something I only noticed now... The way she calls Anduyn "Little Lion"... it feels the same when she called her little brother "Little Lord Sun".

First cutscene: Anduin seeks comfort in Windrunner's Mommy milkers, while also realizing how fun PvP can be. (Sometimes.) Second Cutscene: Tyrande misses throwing crazy parties with her Sisters, so Mother Shandris Feathermoon chaperones their field trip. Third Cutscene: Breaking News Everyone! Pollution in Loraedon has surpassed that of New York City's water with Mayor Menethil gaining favor. (I really liked the scenes with Voss, she's really underrated.)
