By far, one of the BEST arrangements of this song I've ever heard! Everything is on point: The arrangement, the performance, the video editing, the sprites interacting on the screen. You can tell a lot of care and dedication was put into this and everyone probably had a blast making this video. I'm really looking forward to see more from you guys. This is absolutely amazing! I'd call this genre Dixieland or New Orleans-style jazz. It was the intermediate style between ragtime and swing.

It's only natural and appropriate- Koji Kondo played in a jazz band before his gig with Nintendo and you hear it in most of his pieces. You also find a lot of classic ragtime parts in them too- same reason why the Cuphead team have some pieces that sound a lot like some SMW tunes despite having never heard the OST before- same sources of influence and same style being replicated.

Holy shit this is so evenly mixed. Nothing gets overwhelmed. Every instrument sits in the mix and doesn't get drowned out. Great performances and studio techs makes for one hell of a good time. Hats off to everyone involved.

I think it's because it's a very well-balanced mix with dynamic sound. You can tell there's no compression on the tracks, which is why the sound is natural.

Okay... so here’s the fucking thing about Yoshi’s island athletic theme for a theory standpoint: definition of happiness. Music theory explains how to create tension, stress, drama, etc. in songs. The harmonics, resolution, upbeat tempo, pretty much EVERY FUCKING THING about this song is text book “how to make a song happy”. Seriously should be taught in music theory classes as an example of how to pull off a 1,4,5 and make it happy as fucking hell.
