You know how long it took to find A 2x12x42 Athlon video... I bought one and it's great...you could knock somebody out with the box...lol.
@ArmatisReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yeah there aren't many videos on some of their optics, surprisingly. I wish I got to test some of these out more but I had limited time with them as they weren't mine. I wanted to at least do some unboxing and first impressions videos. And yeah the packaging is really nice!

Does that scope come with lens coves? Also, there are threads, do you know which sunshade will fit it?
@ArmatisReviews3 жыл бұрын
It does not come with lens covers. Athlon does not appear to make a 42mm sunshade. There are other manufacturers that do, such as the SWFA SS sunshade: amzn.to/329jw77 however I cannot confirm if the thread pattern is the same. I am not sure if all sunshades utilize the same thread patterns or not, so I cannot guarantee fitment with the Athlon scope or any other brand scopes. Might be worth a try though since Amazon's return policy is pretty easy. Sorry I can't say for sure. Thanks for watching!

@@ArmatisReviews Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply. I haven't purchased a scope in a while. Is it normal for lens covers not to be included? I'll try Amazon. I measured the rings @ approx 46mm. I also have a thread counting tool but that doesn't do any good since they aren't mentioned.

@@lomeranger I don't think I've had lens covers come with hardly any of the scopes I've gotten. Sometimes some LPVO style (like my Vortex Crossfire II 1-4) will come with bikini covers, but not ones that stay attached and flip up. Doesn't seem to be all too common for them to come with the scope from what I recall. Which rings are you referring to? You mean the ends of the scope on the objective and ocular lenses? Or do you mean like rings for the tube to secure the scope to the rifle? It might be wise to contact Athlon CS directly and ask them if they are aware of which sunshades work. Their CS has been very helpful when I've asked them questions before.
@lomeranger3 жыл бұрын
@@ArmatisReviews Yes, I meant threads rather than rings, and coming out of the ocular end of the scope, and, yes, contacting Athlon will be my next step. Dust is the enemy (one of the enemies) of good glass and I want something on the scope even in the case. Thanks again.

Did you get around to field test this scope? Thoughts?
@ArmatisReviews3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to field test it. As soon as I recorded this I gave it to my friend who bought it. I will ask him if he's taken it out and see what he thinks.
@ArmatisReviews3 жыл бұрын
I asked him if he had a chance to take it out yet, and he responded: Just once to the range to sight it in. It's nice I like it a lot. It was last light while I was testing out the ballistic drop marks for the reticle, and the scope was significantly brighter than my 65mm vortex diamondback spotting scope trying to see the target at 300 yards. Haven't gotten a chance to take it out other than that. But I was dead on using the marks for 100-400 yards with a 200 yard zero 5.56.

The line of athlon argos hmr scopes have plastic cover On both lens?

Thanks for the review! what would you say would be a good glass comparison in the vortex or leupold lines?
@ArmatisReviews3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say since I haven't tested out all of the different Vortex scopes.. But looking at their website I'd guess the Crossfire II is probably the closest in comparison to magnification and MSRP. The diamondbacks are close in magnification and MSRP as well but they don't have illuminated reticles.

@ArmatisReviews21 күн бұрын
Haven't heard any complaints from my friend. Might depend on what kind of environment you are hunting in. But overall anyone I know with Athlon Optics haven't had any problems or complaints. If you think something is wrong with yours I'd reach out to Athlon. They have an unconditional lifetime warranty and will take care of you.
