Saw your video on the ATACR 4-16x42 and it convinced me to pick one up for a mk12 build. Found one on RKBArmory very lightly used for 1875 + no tax / free ship. Stoked to try it out! Thanks for all the effort you put in to these reviews, they are very helpful and one of few places where I really trust the data and opinions.

Man that ATACR is so crispy clear. I absolutely love all 3 of mine. You make a good point though. That Athlon punches WAY above its weight class. Great video, brother. Keep it up. Looking forward to your MPVO showdown in the near future btw. Put a rush on it, will ya?! Happy Thanksgiving.

Athlon has a cantilever scope mount that is designed and made in the USA. It looks like a simple mount, a 34mm 20moa cant runs $130. Don't know what grade of aluminum it is, but likely 6061. Would be good to know if it's worth looking at. Thanks for all the reviews!

I would recommend that you test adjusting the parallax adjustment for reticle movement in your videos. I have found a high end scope that the reticle moved 5 moa when adjusted throughout its entire range. All scopes move a bit when adjusting closer than 100 yards but it shouldn’t move when adjusting parallax past 50 yards and some move a lot.

I have been watching you now for a while and must say you have the best reviews on the Net in my opinion, i love it. Im looking to buy a 4 x 16 or something in that range and for out here in the Arizona desert and boy its hard to decide on a scope. This is for personal shooting not competition. What do paid subscribers get on your site vs non subscribers?

Hello, with regards to mirage, you could "see" significant mirage effect on the Midas image (at the range) at upper magnification. With the ATACR scope, with side-by-side comparison, was the mirage effect not as present or did the ATACR glass, DOF and parallax help mitigate it much better? I believe in one of your videos, you mentioned with I think the Tangent Theta, that with that scope's design and quality of glass, the DOF was much "more" such that you didn't have to adjust OA as much over a distance (for hold-over or under) as it held clarity better than most scopes. So, with that said, I wonder if mirage image quality (as you can't "fix" mirage - distortion of the air) can be minimized "optically" through 1) reduction of magnification, at the sacrifice of less detail and enlarged image, 2) reduction of DOF - at the sacrifice of exit pupil at higher magnification, 3) very expensive scope where DOF is best, glass is best to manage (maybe not minimize, but less optical distortion effect making it easier for actual target acquisition) - at the sacrifice of your wallet, finance and marriage (unless are divorced and the kids are all grown up). Do you think this is another "factor" that is worth adding to your review "checklist" or at least comparison to other scopes on how the scope copes with mirage and the mitigation tricks that would need to be done to minimize effect enough for target acquisition? I don't see anyone really addressing this in scope reviews or comparison. You do when it is unavoidable (such as winter time in your apartment and the heat is up high or on summer days at the range or apartment looking out at power towers or distant blue house view). I think that when someone says "good for the money spent", it leaves a lot unsaid and you are foregoing performance for cost (or entry cost if first scope) for "good-enough" without really showing what is missing. When you compare the scope de jour against peer scopes and high-end scopes, most of that is to show how the scope under review is equivalent in (some) performance to a comparable scope or even a high-end scope to merit "value" or performance. That is good to do, but you should also compare the lack of features in that same comparison, otherwise, are you saying that both scopes (including the high-end) are equal in performance and that the more costly scope is not of "value", worthy of its cost? Total cost of ownership is another metric that should be measured. Warranty, able to utilize warranty, durability of scope (bumps, drops, etc...) so that it doesn't need warranty service, company able to respond to customer claims (or lack of being able to reach the company) is a big factor. If the scope is cheap, great optics, cheap on durability and not able to get warranty service, how does that factor it the scope's overall score? This is not a knock against you or your reviews, I am a great fan of your reviews and you are the best at this in the YT verse (or anywhere else). I am providing some feedback for your consideration and am truly interested in your comments and thoughts. Best regards!
