My sister had a nursery rhyme book when she was little with Shirley Temple on the cover, and i loved reading these nursery rhymes every night before sleep when i was little; i remember most of them and sang them to my girls and grandies when they were young!!! My dad never sang lullabies to my sister and I. He passed in February and we love remembering that he sang us different songs. Things like 'Jeremiah was a bullfrog' and this chorus.... Every time I go to town, the boys start kicking my dog around. You better stop kicking my dog around. I don't care if he's just a hound. My grandma sang, 'You are my Sunshine' to all of us grandkids.

Make up your own songs for Parker. Rainbow Connection is our family song. I lost my husband in 2021, 42 years of love. We, his children and i and new daughter in law continue the love. Mama feels empty tho. But sing the world to Parker, have an English Teacher (son) and Civil Engineer, Project Manager (daughter) to prove it works!

Drew & Linda- You shouldn't sing ANY lullabies and with your nice voices you should make your own. If you look up the history of them all you'll find they are VERY dark in origin. For example "Rock a bye baby" The story is that the child in the rhyme is the son of James VII, who some believed was smuggled into the birthing chamber in order to give James a Catholic heir. The wind is thought to refer to James's family members coming in to overthrow the child, and the cradle is a reference to the royal house. When the original was first printed, it had a footnote that read, "This may serve as a warning to the Proud and Ambitious, who climb so high that they generally fall at last." Some interpret this as a threat, but others view it as plain mockery. "You are my sunshine" is actually about heartbreak written by Jimmie Davis & Charles Mitchell. So many who have restructured and sang it over the years have left out a lot of lyrics to convey it as more of a happy song than what was originally intended.
