My ATI Galeo had a canted gas block which prevented me from zeroing it. ATI fixed the problem with no issue (About a five week turn around time) but the rifle runs great now. No issues with either the Tapco mags or the four surplus mags that I have tried.

My brand new one swallows a field gauge with room to spare. How did it leave ATI without the headspace being checked?

Misha is right. When ATI released their clone, I knew I wanted one ASAP and it became available in California of all places and secured one right before Covid really shut down everything. Even got the Bipod for it. That was a headache to locate.

My new build ATI Galeo pistol shoots like a dream. During break in, I had 2 FTE… all with the Tapco mag. The surplus IMI mags fit perfectly and zero malfunctions. It’s extremely accurate and the trigger cleaned up nicely after a couple hundred rounds. It’s very accurate with all ammo.

We’re the surplus mags your using the Galil 35 round ? I’ve bought the new mags rather than surplus to help prevent failures. But haven’t got a chance to shoot it yet. Thanks !

I purchased a SAR kit with corresponding barrel with plans for having it as my first SBR cause IMO the Galil and Israeli FAL are the cooles looking rifles

I’ve seen a video of the Galeo factory production line The receivers are starting out as a solid block of 440 steel before being 100% milled out There was no casting in the whole procedure

I have 2 of the ATI rifles. Work great with the Tapco's and I'm fine with that. I machined the slot under the trigger guard to accept surplus mags. But in my box of dozens of surplus mags, I didn't find any two of them that sat at the same level in the receiver. These rebuild aren't serious work guns being kit builds so for fun I'm good with the function for sure.

I figured out why that bullet guide came loose on it. It's also why the mags started to fit after shooting it. Because of how they designed the magwell the front lug on Surplus steel mags but up against the bullet guide. I guess the recoil caused the mag to force its way under it which caused it to push it up and loosen it. I just got mine and was curious how the lockup of the tapcos vs the surplus was. Maybe that'll help someone out there lol.

Oh wow. just noticed. Mishaco must have gotten an early production Galeo. Just check mine and ATI put the plastic cheek rest and back on the reparked butt stock.

Agreed with you take on surplus magazines. I picked up an ATI "Galileo Galileo Gilligan" in wood & 10 surplus mags. It's a keeper. I had to file & sand maybe 4 mags to get them to latch in. 1 never did feed correctly so perhaps I missed a dent or funky feed lips.

My Galil Ace pistol in x39 I took to a TR urban Rifle class, And have put about 4 thousand rounds since I got this. Pistol has been 100% and very reliable. Bobro Mount/TA44 Acss Acog Iron sights can be used with this set up. Alg trigger/kns gas adjustable piston RS regulate Handguard, cerakoted OD green.

My Ace pistol in 5.56 has been great too. Solidly built, reliable, and a credit to the Galil name. I don't mind the polymer lower either since its quality material and doesn't feel like cheap plastic.

Thanks Misha! Yeah I was looking at these ATI Galils on sale as at one point I saw them for presale of $900 I think. I had to factor in expensive and hard to find quality Galil mags, plus I’ve heard of some quality issues with the guns themselves. I decided to pass. (My SAM7SF is on the delivery truck going to my FFL today...I’m hitting the refresh button on the tracking page at least once an hour. 😃)

I ordered mine last Tuesday and just did ground shipping. It went out the door Friday. Make sure your FFL emails over their certificate. Got it now and can’t stop touching it...

I think the issue with Galil amgs was the soldiers using the feed lips as a bottle opener. This ruined the magazines and led them to adding the famous bottle opener to galil handguards.

Goodluck with ATI ifyou have a issue, i have the same galeo arm the headspacing was out in 200 rounds. they want me to pay for the receiver, barrel, and labor.

I'd recommend makman90's reproduction of the carry handle and rear retainer plate. Its what I went with for my jeff miller build.

Re the slab receiver, I was able to install an AK master mount on the Galeo. There was some space between the mount and receiver, which allowed for some unwanted movement with the mount. I trimmed a Krebs AK pin retaining plate flush (more or less) with the master mount and used it as a shim between the mount and the receiver. No movement. I now have a midwest AK mount and a 20 mm red dot on it. Galeo is not as elegantly made as my pre-ban IMI ARM clones nor does it look as good as my ARS assembled/Jeff Miller tweaked SAR clone, but.... Since somebody, anybody (ATI in this case) finally put an "original" style Galil type product back on the market, I wanted to reward them with my business. So I bought the Galeo to vote with my wallet. (now, if someone would finally just start making Valmet mags...!) I don't regret the purchase, largely because I went into it with with realistic expectations. Appreciate your content and the time you invest to share your take with those of us with similar interests!

ATI allowed me to scratch my itch for a galil, but the gun didnt work right with surplus magazines without relieving the receiver a little where the mag locks up.

the feed lips shouldn't be bent, they specifically put a bottle opener on the galils to prevent that!
