ATL: Delta's 12th Annual Veteran's Day Open House & Military Takeover

Wednesday November 1st - Friday November 3rd 2023:
For many years the first week in November has been a very special time at the World's Busiest Airport. It is the week of the Delta Veteran's Day Open house during which all sorts of fighter jets, warbirds & choppers fly into my field. And we are always going to be there to bear witness. Well, that figures. This year I decided to finally take a vacation somewhere I've never been and decided to take the 2,000+ mile trip to Atlanta just to stay at the Renaissance hotel and watch airplanes. I got there on the 4th. Looks like I was a day late.

Joint National Guard Base? I've never seen that title before, and I thought that only the 169th Fighter Wing called McEntire its home.

Actually, the T-45's official name is Goshawk, not Goshhawk. Also, McDonnell Douglas redesigned the original Hawk airframe to make it into the carrier compatible T-45 Advanced Trainer, which replaced the older TA-4J Skyhawk trainer. Another thing, Dobbins isn't an Air Force Base, anymore, instead it is Dobbins Air Reserve Base, these days. Oh, and the South Carolina Air Guard is not based at Shaw, instead their base is McEntyre Air National Guard Base.
