I miss Atlanta:( I went there to help homeless people and children, along with distribute food and work at soup kitchens. Atlanta really changed my outlook of the world. So many wonderful people in a city some people would say to be awful. I'm aware of the fact that there aren't wonderful people there too, but Atlanta really did touch my heart. :)

I don't know how many times I visited Atlanta on business during my working years 1963-1993, over 100 I'm sure. More often than not I drove there from Jacksonville. It was fun to roar around the city, get lost and find my way back. I don't get to do it anymore, except through your wonderful videos. Thanks.

These videos are so cool to me. I love photography so I like to go to big cities to take pictures of there skylines and to me Atlanta has the most spread out. I love it though because it can look so small but yet its actually really large. I love this city just not the traffic. I'm from the Columbus, Ga area and I get nervous driving around up there. Thanks for making all these I might be moving to the Atlanta area soon.

I'm glad I watched this video. I'm heading to Atlanta in just under a month and I was pretty nervous as I've never been that far south, or that far east before. I've got about 2 days to spend alone wandering around the streets there before meeting up with a friend for the remainder of the trip and this was a great preview. Reminds me of home! One thing I noticed tho. Where are all the pedestrians?!

Thanks for the ride! So totally different from European cities, like Bristol in England, for example, with our narrower streets, lots of twists and turns, historic buildings, more of a cosy intimacy, and buzzing with life.

What is your experience here? I've lived in Metro Atlanta for 35 years, it is different than the older northern cities, the downtown area seen in this video is not really a destination other than the M-F work week, It is very busy then but it is not really a tourist area. The Midtown area (2:00 to 4:30 usually is a busy place) again there is NOTHING going on during a New Year's day afternoon. Go 5-8 miles north to Buckhead and it is very active, as is the area near CNN Center & Centennial Park.
@Freewayjim12 жыл бұрын
Thanks, GT is a couple miles to the right across I-75/85, not really akin for a good street tour but it is considered one of the nicer inner city campuses. Atlanta is is not SoCal but mountains are less than 2 hours to the north and the Atlantic is a 4-5 hour ride to the SE and the Gulf is 4-5 hours to the south...just depends what you value the most.

You obviously did not read the description at the top. I shot this on New Year's day in the afternoon, other wise this area is VERY busy, Geez.

@DillonStanfordTV I've lived here since 1977 (I was 12) so I think it's a good place to live and raise a family but not knowing your situation it's impossible for me to say if it's right for you. But yes the cost of living on Atlanta is probably the most economical of any eastern city, just keep in mind that the closer to the city you live, the more expensive everything is, and the farther out you go the more traffic you have to deal with. It's a trade-off.

I'm a native of Atlanta, though I currently reside in Florida. Also, I'm a professional urban planner. While the city of Atlanta has made great strides in recent years in respect to form based coding and infill development, it is very much a work in progress. Mass transit is limited in the city, and thus you'll likely need a car for almost all of your daily needs, especially if you choose to reside in Dunwoody, which is a low density, car dependent area located in the northern suburbs.
@goshadowkenny15 жыл бұрын
Just an update. I arrived in town yesterday, staying at the Baymont. Weather is wonderful (it's 1 to -5 Celsius back home) and I'm a little surprised at how friendly people are. Coming from a Canadian, that's saying something! Still barely any pedestrians on the streets, so I don't have to watch where I'm going. I LOVE IT.

im thinking about moving to atlanta. is it a good place to live? i was living in houston, is a good city, its cheap and people is decent, but i have been robered 3 times one in front of my house. the three robers were to my car, the first time they stole my ipod, my car stereo and my gps. the second time they jsut dont open my car, they just brake a glass to get in. and the third time it was my fault to left my car unlocked. but many friends suffered robers in houston , also my sister.

Is it compulsary to use headlights during daytime? What strikes me is that I see few pedestrians, taxicabs, buses, bikes, mopeds, bicycles, no trams, big rigs or trucks and this is downtown !? maybe this is made on a Sunday morning? Compared to Manhattan, Atlanta downtown seems to be very sleepy. but I like the clip. I'm a roadgeek myself.

Uh yeah you do. There are good sized skyscrapers in Charlotte & Miami and Nashville has a very nice looking skyline too. Metro Atlanta is the 8th largest metropolitan area in the USA at 5.6 Million, Maybe you should get out a little more.
@Freewayjim14 жыл бұрын
OK, this seems to be a bone of contention. The reason you don't see more people and cars is because this was filmed mid-afternoon on New Year's Day 2008, obviously NOT a normal day for traffic.

@TruheadzaNo I've had to say this dozens of times within these comments, I filmed this on a New Year's Day in the mid-afternoon, I shot it on a non-workday on purpose so I would have less traffic to deal with, Atlanta is NOT a ghost town.
