1. Earn and Van are together but not. They still have that love and respect for each other since they share a child but they haven’t made it official so it would be normal for either of them to flirt with other people 2. I thought it also was interesting they mentioned Taraji because I think Van was supposed to embody her. Not only has Taraji starred in Tyler Perry’s “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” but if you know anything about her story, she got into acting later in life and already was a single mother of 1 boy at the time. Van seems to be subtlety portraying that role.

The part about the daughters wasn't about the woman's daughter not being "the it" girl. It was about colorism. Both mothers agreed that the darker skinned girl was the better actor, but that girl's mother said she doesn't have "the look." Also, Atlanta is a Disney production. Disney productions aren't filmed at Tyler Perry studios.

Chocolate's piano playing was just bad, just like his scripts. I think a letter corresponds to a key but there's no way you can actually play a chord. Typewriters only work one letter at a time, not whole words. It's not a stenotype machine.

I'm going to watch and edit this at the end. In my mind, it was just way too much to unpack in this episode. Direction without seeing the person (the Oz effect", child actors, "hollywood" manipulation in general then their exploitation of african-american plights, employee titles vs their responsibility, black people's views on colorism and being "chosen", etc. Whew! My mind was spinning repeatedly.
