I'm so proud of how far you've come and I'm glad you're still here with us! 🖤✨️ Loving your journey, and I can't wait for the end of this album. I'm glad you loved the song. II's drumming really shines in this one. I hope you watch him play it in his Drumeo interview sometime!

The correct lyrics are "Merry in the morning, earn your bitter fodder; it's easier to try not to eat." Vessel is saying “Wake up happy in the morning to earn a life you don’t deserve or want” Then he goes on saying “It’s easier to try not to eat” which can be interpreted that it’s easier to give up on life than swallow your own bitter existence. When he says "So flood me like Atlantic, bandage up the trenches, anything to get me to sleep" the trenches refer to self-inflicted wounds. I've read some people say you can see the scars on his arms in pictures and videos, but I've never noticed them or looked closely enough. This song is (widely believed to be) about a failed su*c*de attempt. How blessed are millions of us that he is still here, choosing to share his gifts with us and learning how to love himself along the way? 🙏🏻✨️🖤

The scars are on his left arm 😢. The song hits hard as well as 'Are you really ok?'....my daughter has harmed herself many times in the past and as a parent, you feel helpless x

Well damn, while I'm well aware of what Atlantic means, along with what it means to my own life. I didn't expect to watch someone being so open about their own struggles. Thank you, I love your honesty. Massive hug :)

This song never fails to hurt. Only people that know that pain pick up on this meaning on their own. Worship ❤

So yeah, the general consensus in the fanbase is that Atlantic is indeed about an attempt…😢 there are also some interpretations that this has something to do with a (self inflicted or not) car acident in wich the lover was with him and he was the sole survivor. Some even say the car went of a bridge or something to the ocean (highly recomend u read the lyrics again with this in mind). So keep an eye foward for car, road and colision refferences .In this album you will find vessel in his lowest, litteraly his rock botton. So it’s a heavy emotional album but with some big masterpieces. Do keep up with the reactions and also sad to hear your story but glad ur ok now. Once again greetings from Brazil 😊

Nah, it was unfortunately through self inflicted blood loss. The obsession with Atlantic is about being consumed (by blue light), drowning etc... Eating and being consumed are common themes in his work. Also watch the Fall For Me Video - which features a regular looking Vessel entering the sea.

Your interpretation of the lyrics is correct. Vessel actually has real self-harm scars on his forearms, so something happened that caused him to write this song. How serious it was, no one knows, but he definitely suffered from some dark thoughts that pushed him over the edge at one point in his life.

He's still going through it though the lyrics from TMBTE do seem like he's slowly healing but there's still things in there that show it's a struggle, he cries on stage quite often singing the "YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR" bit in acensionism for example. Sundowning is about heart break and the death of love with a toxic ex but being unable to let them go and still loving them despite how much hurt they cause, he does this by mirroring his feelings onto the Deity called Sleep who is a major theme in all their music and the original reason he created the band. Sleep is like Vessels toxic ex lover, he cannot get over them, he cannot move on and he knows all they do is cause him pain inbetween moments of unparalleled ecstasy and happiness but he still loves them and likely always will, they are the best and worst thing that has ever happened to him at the same time. This Place Will Be Your Tomb carries on this theme but Vessel has now moved into a darker space, the hope he can rekindle the relationship with Sleep is gone, instead all that's left is the sadness, despair and heartbreak after a messy breakup. This breakup has irreversibly changed him as a person, the old version of Vessel is dead and is now forever trapped at the bottom of an endless ocean of misery and heartbreak. All Vessel wants is their lover back but is now being forced to confront the reality that they're gone and they've left Vessel damaged, broken and no longer the same person he used to be but despite all this he still loves them. A tomb of depression, trauma, self loathing and self destruction in the darkest trenches of the deepest oceans seemingly inescapable and eroding who he is as a person even further. Take Me Back To Eden is the "happiest" of the trilogy of albums, Vessel is finally starting to heal and move on but the pain is still there. A recurring theme of this album is gold and technology and by extension the beauty of sunlight and being in the light. Vessel has escaped his tomb from the last two albums and can now truly appreciate the beauty of life and love after spending so long in the dark. "Aqua Regia" is an acid used to dissolve noble metals like gold and Platinum, motherboards and other electronics used gold as conductors and is a big theme of this album, yes the acid hurts but it is washing away his connections to the toxicity of his past. I still believe this album is about Sleep and Vessels attempts to fix their toxic past and heal them both. Chokehold is about being eternally bound to someone "When we were made, it was no accident" is a play on "we were made for each other", "We were tangled up like branches in a flood" continues this theme, they're tied to each other floating down the river of life (and also a callback to the overall ocean theme of the previous album) "So you keep me sharp and test my worth in blood" is Vessel saying he's trying to move on from the violence and aggression of his past, he would lash out and hurt the people around him but is now trying to channel that aggression into being a guardian for this new love so that no one can hurt them like people hurt him. This is further carried on in the rest of the song. The summoning is almost a classic love song and carries on from Chokehold, with lyrics like "I've got a blood trail, red in the blue" being both a callback to the ocean themes of the previous album and the blood he has spilled of others as well as himself in the pursuit of love. "The Sky above, the earth below" is another big theme in this album, the earth below was Vessels tomb, it was dark and scary but this new love is lifting him into the sky and freeing him from his past tomb. the chorus continues this with lyrics like "Raise me up again" and "I want to see the other side" Granite I believe is about Sleep directly, "Sulfur on your breath, granite in my chest" being both on saying their voice is toxic and the feeling of dread you get in your chest when someone bad happens. "I was more than just a body in your passenger seat" being Vessel saying that he wasn't just there for the ride but he was lead on and taken on a journey he did not wish to go on like a passenger in a car having no say over where that car goes being completely at the mercy of the driver. This theme carries on for the rest of the song with lyrics like "You say you want me but you know what I need, but I am". Vessel wants autonomy in this relationship and is fighting for some control over their future. 1/4

"Never mind the death threats, parting at the door, We'd rather be six feet under than be lonely And if you had a problem, then you should have told me 'Fore you started getting all aggressive and controlling You only drink the water when you think it's holy So keep an eye on the road or we will both be here forever" Is possibly my favourite part of the whole song, they are both clearly toxic when together but despite that the love still burns deeply and like it or not they are in this car together as they drive through life and all Vessel is asking is that they pay attention to the road so they don't both crash and die, whether that is literally or the death of their love is left up to the listener to decide. Aqua Regia is as I was discussing above is an acid, it is washing away the past corrosion and connections so that Vessel can start again. "My Love is an animal call, cutting through the darkness, bouncing of the walls" Vessel is an a wild animal of rage and passion, he need Sleep to focus that rage into something positive and to use it to protect them both, this carries on the themes of guardianship and protection the whole album has. "Putting down the roses picking up the sword" is Vessel saying he's done trying to mindlessly pursue the notions of love but being unwilling to stand up for himself, his partner and to fight for both those things, however this is the first of many times in this album Eden is mentioned and it's left up to the listener to decide if Eden is a person or a place, both are valid thoughts and either way Vessel wants to end up either in Eden where he's happy or with Eden where he's happy. The rest of the song continues the theme of Vessel realising that he has to embrace change if he ever wants to heal and he has to fight to get what he wants and stand up for himself and the people he loves, instead of lashing out and hurting those around him he needs to use that aggression to protect them. Vore is a fetish about being eaten or eating another person whole without chewing them, this song is Vessel giving in to either sleep, Eden or both of them, he wants to be totally consumed by them and he wants to consume them fully too. He is ready to dive head first into this love and give everything for it. Not a massively complex song and not a lot to dive into but the theme is still beautiful and shows the progress and healing Vessel has made. He is committed to this love and willing to die for it. Ascensionism is undoubtedly about Sleep, this song explores Sleeps toxicty and the hurt they've caused Vessel with their narcissism and selfishness however despite this Vessel cannot let them go and is willing to go with them on this journey, he has accepted the pain it will cause and still loves them regardless. Lyrics like: "You want someone to be Your reflection, your bitter deception Setting you free So you take what you want and leave" "Half algorithm, half deity Glitches in the code or gaps in a strange dream Tell me you guessed my future and it mapped onto your fantasy Turn me into your mannequin and I'll turn you into my puppet queen" "Show me what you are, I am desperate to know Nobody better than the perfect enemy Digital demons make the night feel heavenly Make it real 'Cause anything's better than the way I feel right now I can offer you a blacklit paradise" All these lyrics continue the theme of giving in to love, Vessel is done fighting off who they truly are and despite the pain they caused Vessel is detirmined to find a way to make this work with them and strike a balance, this is also the start of a lot of callbacks to their first album, there are too many to list in this comment however if you google "Sleep Token references/motifs/callbacks MASTER LIST Reddit" someone has made a very detailed Reddit post about it. 2/4

Are you Really okay? is both a song about Vessel himself and his lover, with lyrics like "I raised you in the dark, Caught you reading by the sunrise" could both be how he dragged himself out of the darkness he sings about in Sundowning and TPWBYT or about his toxic past with Sleep / Eden has shaped him into who he is today. The song continues into themes of self harm and self torture and is Vessel reaching out either to himself or to his lover knowing that he cannot stop the pain, he cannot fix them but he is determined to be there for them after being absent in the past. He doesn't want to continue hurting himself and he doesn't want Sleep / Eden to hurt themselves any more. The Apparition is very much a song about acceptance of the past because he's unable to let it go. He accepts things have changed but he still misses the past and misses the person he loved, Vessel has finally comes to terms with his past and accepted that Sleep / Eden will always be a part of him regardless of them being in his life or not. I really like the lines: "Somewhere in the past Something was between You and I, my dear And it remains With me to this day No matter what I do This scar will never fade" As Vessel confirming that the are tethered to each other permanently, it cannot be escaped and Vessel has come to terms and made peace with this. He's done fighting off the past and can finally move on. "I make the most of the turning tide It just split what's left of the burning silence Don't wait, 'cause this could be the last time You turn up in the reveries of my mind I wake up to a suicide frenzy Loaded dreams still leave me empty" The person Vessel loves is gone, someone "new" is there but Vessel will forever carry them in his heart and in his mind, he dreams about them constantly and the better days they had together. DYWTYLM is in my opinion Vessel singing into the mirror, this song is about himself and his feelings both towards himself and to Sleep / Eden., "Do you roll with the waves or do you duck into deep blue safety?" is Vessel asking himself is both a callback to TPWBYT with the ocean and Vessel carrying on a major theme of this album in moving on and finally being happy. Vessel needs to go with the tides and move on and not dive into the past and hide there. "Is there something you give That you will never receive in return? Do you know what it is?" Is unquestionably about Vessel learning to love himself finally after all these years, he has given so much love to people that give him none back while completely neglecting himself and his own feelings, how can he love if he doesn't love himself? "Are you trying to live Like everything is a lesson to learn? Can you ever forgive? (Yourself)" "And my reflection just won't smile back at me likе I know it should And I would turn into a stranger in an instant if I could And there is somеthing eating me alive, I don’t know what it is Maybe not that you conceal your feelings, they just don't exist" Again carries on this theme of reflection and acceptance of himself but also admitting that he is part of the problem, he was forcing himself to feel things that weren't real to make other happy and he needs to stop doing that if he ever actually wants to be happy. "Can we ever release? Is it better to just not feel? Can we hit delete?" Vessel wants to delete the past, he needs to let go of the hatred, the anger and bitterness he has kept trapped inside himself and hopes that Sleep / Eden are willing to do the same so they can move on to something more positive. "It’s been so long that I'm forgetting what it feels like But I'd rather not remind myself and leave it all behind And I've tried so hard to fix it all but nothing seems to help But I cannot hope to give you what I cannot give myself" Is the same as above, how can Vessel truly love someone if he doesn't love himself? Rain is about a new / renewed love washing away the sins and hurt of his past, Sleep / Eden is finally a positive influence in his life and can finally wash away all that sadness and bitterness that has been stuck to him for years. I wont quote lyrics from this song because they're all massively self explanatory if you look them up. Vessel is aware he's an animal with sharp teeth but despite all this he's still got the eyes of a lamb and wants to enjoy the innocence and peace of love. 3/4

Take Me Back To Eden is part 1 of Sleep Tokens "goodbye", he has accepted that Sleep / Eden may hurt him but that hurt is worth it for the shining brightness that love brings him. "My, my, those eyes like fire, I'm a winged insect, you're a funeral pyre" Vessel is drawn to them no matter what he does and is completely willing to let the fire consume him in the name of love. "I will travel far beyond the path of reason, Take me back to Eden" Vessel is ready to go back to Sleep / Eden and love them completely like he now loves himself. This song features an absolute treasure trove of callbacks, it features sound effects from Chokehold, lyrics sung in the same melody as songs from Sundowning, foreshadowing of lyrics from Euclid, the continued theme of technology from Aqua Regia, references to the offering and High Water and the theme of biting and teeth, as well as another callback to chokehold with "it was no accident" and "tangled up like branches" Verse 2 the more rap / hip hop bit is Vessel both demanding that you accept him for who is and also that he's done letting others take pieces of him to satisfy themselves, he'll cut pieces of you off in anger before you take anything of his again. He has moved on from a blade in the dark blindly lashing out at everyone and into his role as a guardian and protector and will fight anyone trying to take advantage of him or the people he loves, he will no longer roll over and take it. "No amount of self-sought fury Will bring back the glory of innocence" It doesn't matter how angry you are at yourself it wont change the past and it wont bring back who you used to be, hating yourself doesn't get you anywhere, you need to move on and love yourself no matter what has happened in the past. The rest of the song is the chorus of giving into an all consuming love because to truly love you have to open yourself up to being hurt ending in the climactic and fury filled crescendo of the song. Vessel is done being a victim and is saying goodbye to the past and embracing the future, no longer will he simply roll over and take the abuse. Euclid is part 2 of Sleep Tokens Goodbye feautring lyrical callbacks to Aqua Regia, Bloodsport, The Night Does Not Belong To God and When The Bough Breaks. It also features melodies from older songs too, the most notable is the last minute of the song featuring the primary melody of the opening of The Night Does Not Belong To God, the cycle of abuse, self loathing, heartbreak and trauma is complete and Vessel is finally moving on. TNDBTG was the opening song of their debut album so ending on the same note is a perfect circle and a lovely ending to a three album story. Also fun shout out to the opening line of Euclid being at 15 seconds into the song with "Just run it back, give me five whole minutes" and the song having exactly 5 minutes left. Vessel no longer wants people to relate to the pain and suffering he has endured and now does not want you to look at the lyrics as a cry for help but instead as a warning and a message to protect and love yourself so you do not suffer like he suffers, this isn't a cry for help, this is an offering of support and love. He is done with the anger and bitterness. "Yet in reverse you are all my symmetry A parallel I would lay my life on So if your wings won't find you heaven I will bring it down like an ancient bygone" We are all Vessel in one way or another, we have all experienced the pain and suffering but also the beauty and wonder of life and love and instead of lashing out we need to stick together and support the people around us. There is beauty in symmetry and knowing others can relate to our pain makes it easier to share our feelings and work through them with the end goal of loving ourselves. The outro ties this off with callbacks to a multitude of older songs from their first album and the songs that started it all, Vessel has finally let go of the pain and anger of his past and is moving on to something much more tranquil, beautiful and peaceful and is for all intents and purposes a goodbye and a thank you to the fans for their support. Euclid might be the most beautiful song Sleep Token have ever written and is the perfect end and sign off to a trilogy of albums about the pain of love and loss, I do not think this is the end of Sleep Token so it's not a goodbye in the sense that the band is done but I do believe the next music we hear from them is going to be very different thematically and possibly musically too. Anywhere sorry for the long message, I just really love Sleep Token and they've helped me worth through a lot of feelings 4/4
