Thank you so very much for laying out the lyrics for this wonderful song. It is the sad story of what has happened to a lot of us. Caught out in the machinations of the financial system, who use interest rates to shake us out of our security. To lose our home was devastating to my wife and I. We were lucky and God provided another roof over our head. But I cry always when I listen to this music. Not for me, but because I had failed my wife and family in my attempt to hold onto our family home. We did fashion a wonderful home, where we enjoyed a good family life with three children growing to maturity there. 37 years. But nothing lasts for ever. The poignant part of the song is where all we have left is to enjoy the late evening of our lives and then turn to dust.

Hi I have a question, I’m struggling with the left hand technique for this song. I’m able to do a lot of songs w my left hand but the technique where you do an octave then play the key in the middle then octave again is messing w my brain. Any tips?

Hi there! Instead of forcing your fingers, let your wrist do the job by moving it up and down a bit more than usual. It might help you get the rhythm down when having to use the middle key. If that doesn’t work, just practicing the left hand only for a while can also do the trick. Worst comes to worst, you can play all the notes at the same time like you were doing prior in the song. Isn’t 100% the same, but still sounds nice. Hope this helps!
