Revell would have to borrow or buy back from Atlantis Models the mold for this kit in order to re-release it for the 4th time. Nice build and thanks for sharing!

Thanks Michael I am not so much a aircraft guy myself but think it is pulling me in more now. I love doing weathering to my models it adds so much to it as long as I dont over do it. Thanks.

Very nice. I build the real ones. Going to get this kit and will be able to model it after what I have seen so far on the full scale. Minus the bird poop.

That would be really cool to have that experience when building a kit. Should help a lot with the details. Enjoy your build and the weekend.

Russell, I would love to see you build Revell's 1962 1/4 scale version of Chrysler's slant six engine. You mentioned wanting to build additional engine models, and I think you would enjoy this one!

Awesome build, looks like an Allison T-56 Turboprop!
@RussellModelCars4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it shows that it is the 501-D13 and on another side shows it is also the T56 so I am assuming they are a lot alike or the same? Did you ever get to work on one of them in the service? If you did it would be a good addition to your museum.

I really like your realistic paint job Russell. Do you have a video of you doing all the paint? Also, did you have any problems with clearance of the turbine spinning once you added the different paint layers? Having done this model I know there isn't much tolerance for adding paint layers. Nice job.
@RussellModelCars2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much it was a fun build. I did have issues making everything work after paint where I just made half not work. I don't have a video of me painting I thought it would be boring for people.

It it possible to do some modifications to make it run continuously? For example, I’m thinking of 3d printing some extra parts to attach it to a dc motor to make it run by itself at a reasonable speed ?
@RussellModelCars3 жыл бұрын
If you get the parts to move freely and put a grease like vaseline on the friction points it could be done. I think you have to make it without paint on the inside and moving parts so it can move easy. You still could paint the outside and have a really cool working model. I think one guy did it to the older version of this kit and is one KZbin I wish I could remember who it was to share with you. I thing he put a belt drive on the main shaft and the motor on the base he made.

@Russell Model Cars Great build I have one that I haven't built yet. I am getting it planned out etc. Quick question when you paint it like that does it still rotate or does the paint hender that part of the build. Thank you for your response.
@RussellModelCars3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. the paint does make it so it can not spin. one idea i had when working on this one was to paint all the non moving parts and keep the spinning ones and the inside parts that are next to them with out paint. the one i had needed so much sanding to get it to spin that i decided to just have it solid and panted it all since i was not going to mess with it once i was done. good luck with your build i hope this helps.
