The screamers were a bit mad, but they were right in a way. Bring back the screamers and the berlin wall.

Atlantis House as it is today = goo.gl/maps/yMXj4pAk9ethPeq59 An alternative way of life for the Atlantis Commune. Reported on 10 January 1980 that the Atlantis Commune was to leave Burtonport in Co. Donegal. Known locally as the Screamers, the group practised primal screaming as a form of therapy. It was founded in 1974 by Englishwoman Jenny James, who features in this report along with other Atlantis members living in the commune’s house in Burtonport. The group talk about the benefits of their way of life, but locals such as Hugh Boyle do not agree. The Atlantis commune members believe aggression is a healthy emotion. As they see it, society has put a premium on mediocrity and being sweet and polite. In Atlantis a balanced person is somebody that can show the whole gamut of emotions with a premium put on being argumentative and aggressive. Very extreme things get said indeed, that’s the point, that you get out every horrible thought you have about this person and then it’s up to the other person to feel what that does to them. After leaving Burtonport, the Atlantis Commune lived on the nearby island of Inishfree for several years before relocating to Colombia in South America.

Lee McDaid - Donegal. Thanks Lee. Was this what John Lennon used as a therapy?
@LeeMcDaidDonegal7 жыл бұрын
Yes, He and Yoko spent 4 months in Primal Scream therapy in early 1970. He wrote several songs based around that period = "Remember", "I Found Out", "Isolation", "God", "Mother", "My Mummy's Dead", "Well Well Well," and "Working Class Hero". Listen to his live version of "Mother" ( His Mother was knocked down and killed by an off duty Policeman when John was young and his Father never wanted to have anything to do with John's life or upbringing ) - John sounds like a wounded animal by the end of the song = kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqepmmOtq6ylg9k

These people were fairly ahead of their time in calling out and attempting to process the systemic child abuse they experienced.
@paintingtosser38146 ай бұрын
@@elizabethreapy6086 They were ahead of their time, but they were also extremely abusive to each other in that big house. Lots of people who went there looking for help and therapy were abused in that commune. Young girls had their hair shaven off for transgressions. I am not making this up. They played psychological mind games on each other and confrontations were encouraged, so as to bring out the 'truth' and clear the bad energy. It was a cult led by a very charismatic, controlling woman and her fanatical female devotees. The charismatic one, Jenny, was known as the Queen of Atlantis. I kid you not. It's crazy, the men were terrified of these women. They ruled the roost. Someone should make a film about them. It's as crazy as the Handmaid's Tail. They left Europe because they feared a nuclear war was going to break out.

The Family by Bob Quinn is a good documentary to watch about Atlantis. If you go to Bob Quinn's website, you can purchase it.

I remember this being on the news or Halls Pictorial Weekly or something at that time. I wonder where these people are now some 40 years later and if they would cringe with embarrassment on seeing this and other footage of their weird goings on at that time.

crossman20 as far as I know, they relocated the commune to Colombia.

Jenny James actually is still alive. She is living in a beautiful farm in South America. Her children became famous singers in Colombia and most importantly they are beautiful human beings.
@volveralaraizadiossupermer5794 жыл бұрын
We should not judge anyone. Jenny’s children are a blessing to Latin culture and they are far from angry behaviors, so It seems this therapy wasn’t as bad as it looked.

@@volveralaraizadiossupermer579 no they don't. They are not famous singers are you demented or something? Both are semi illiterates, knocked out in their teens by dirty small town scumbags, their mom is a psychopath isolated in a hut in the middle of nowhere what is to expect from there...

That is absolute horse shit. The abuse there was extreme. Physical, sexual, and emotional. People lives were damaged by the amount of trauma they suffered. And the price for their experimenting was very high. Nothing beautiful this.@@volveralaraizadiossupermer579

The screamers never screamed at night. That farmer is telling a porky pie for the cameras.
@aucourant9998 Жыл бұрын
Yes, they did. I actually lived in Atlantis around this time. Nighttime was often worse than the day because we held encounter groups in the evenings that sometimes went on into the early hours of the morning.
