Lateral or "out of the box thinking/hypothesising" has produced radical yet eventually proven theories. Proposing an alternate theory is the foundation of Science. It motivates others to either prove or disprove said theory. Thankyou Randall Carson. Our World does NOT sit in a " steady state" Universe, it is very kinetic/dynamic.

Maybe you don't like being associated with this author, Erik von Daniken, but in his book Chariots of the Gods, he touched on "upside down" ceramic canals in houses that he theorized to be covers for electrical wires. I found this when I was in high school in 1982. I went into the army for an electronics communications field. One of the things that was "touched" on was that microwaves could travel through ceramics of a specific shape used when they were first studied. The shape of the ceramic conductors that were most functional were the same cross-sectional shape that were shown in the pictures in Eric von Daniken's pictures of the "ceramic" channels that he thought were covers for electrical wires. That shape and compound connection has always haunted me up until the most recent years when more people are more open minded that our ancestors had technologies that we do now, but "forgot" for some "unknown" reason.

I graduated HS in ‘82 and remember reading Daniken and wondering about odd relics and artifacts as well. Seems like across history has been a number of groups easily motivated and interested to rewrite and forge history to suit institutional narratives. My grandma told us children we are all from Atlantis and there is more than people measure. She never explained more, but said she had been told by her mother and grandmother and this is passed along. I dunno, but it’s a data point.

Von Daniken is awesome but his books function best as a starting-point. For instance, he will discuss many different ancient mysteries or anomalies in his books, ask questions for a few pages, and then moves on. His research is best used as a reference for something unexplained or unusual, and then more comprehensive research should be done as a follow-up.

Does Athanasius Kircher’s world famous Atlantis map show the coast of America in Pre-Flood times? In other words, does it show the current coast of the Carolinas? Or does it actually show the now underwater, semi-continental shelf of America? Specifically, the rim of land whose peaks rise above the water between Puerto Rico and Trinidad. Where the Atlantic Plate crashed into the Caribbean Plate. Creating what we now call the Lesser Antilles. We tend to think that the east coast of America sits across the Atlantic from Spain. BUT, if one were to draw a straight line across the globe - from Spain through The Great Meteor Seamount and beyond - that line would not go to North America, it would go straight to the Lesser Antilles. What we do not know is if Kircher simply placed outliers on his copy of the map for reference, or if the outliers were on the original Egyptian map. As an old legend once said, Athanasius Kircher, a founder of Egyptology, found a map in the Vatican. This ancient map was created in Egypt and brought to Italy by the Romans sometime around 30 BCE. Kircher made a copy of the map and published it circa 1664. We have all seen it. But what most do not see, is that Kircher’s Atlantis map appears to be a map of The Great Meteor Seamount. The problem is people think they are looking at a Continent, not an Island. This means the outliers on the map (Spain, America, etc.) are NOT in scale, they are merely location markers showing where the island sat in the ocean. Which is right where Plato said Atlantis was ~ in the Atlantic in front of the Pillars Of Hercules. Kircher’s coast of Spain is not very accurate compared to what we know today. So did he draw that coast himself, using sailor maps from the mid 1600’s? Or did he make an exact copy of the original Egyptian? This accuracy relates to the coast of America as well as the island itself. Great Meteor does resemble Kircher’s Atlantis, though the 2 small islands sit in different positions when compared to current maps. Were those 2 islands on the original map? Are they actually the 2 seamounts next to Great Meteor? Or did Kircher place them there to match Plato’s story which tells of islands between Atlantis and the outlying continent? Of course, without the original map, we cannot know the answers to these questions, we can only ask them. But they are interesting to ponder. The Egyptians could not have made a map of something if it was always underwater. That The Great Meteor Seamount could be Atlantis is very simple. If a landmass currently underwater was mapped in ancient times, that means that it was once above water. And not just above water but right where Plato said Atlantis was ~ in front of the Pillars Of Hercules. It has been said that Plato’s Atlantis is supposed to be 5,000 kilometers from Athens. So sits The Great Meteor Seamount. Plato said, “10 islands for 10 kings”. As seen on Kircher’s map, Great Meteor has 2 small islands next to it. Today these seamounts are known as Little Meteor and Closs. If we count these 2, as well as Great Meteor itself - and the giant Azores mass - we have a total of 10 islands. The others being the seamounts named Hyeres, Irving, Cruiser, Tyro, Plato and of course… Atlantis.

We were discussing magnetic field shifts and he asked "what makes you think that it's just the magnetic field that shifts?" So I wonder if segments of crust that are rich in iron and other ferrous metals might be wanting to move with the magnetic field

Fascinating how science goes round in circles. I read a book in the late 70s or early '80s by German Engineer (Otto Muck?) who argued the case for Atlantis being in the Atlantic, and the Azores being the surviving mountains to the north of the island as explained by Plato. His book was very convincing. In it he mentions vertical tectonicism and specifically Professor Hapgood who proposed this in the 1930s iirc.

Hi Randall. I wanted to give some information. My yoga guru, who taught us yoga meditation, said Atlantis really did exist, and so did Lemuria. He said it was "beyond the Pillars of Hercules", just as Plato did. He told some of the other yoga monks that Atlantis was beyond the Iberian peninsula. The personal assistant of my guru told me that Atlantis went as far north as the Faroe Islands, and he aslo told how far east and south and west it went, but I'm not good at geography so I don't remember what those other places were. My guru said if we wanted to find some interesting evidence of Atlantis we'd have to dig off the northern coast of Spain. But it's very deep, would be very difficult to get to, would be very expensive, and would probably require the funding of the United Nations.

Could the weight of the ice cause whole sections of crust to upthrust, not just the continental parts? Both Europe and North America had massive amounts of ice, could the weight have pushed down the northern parts of the plates raising and pinching the plates so they thrusted upwards, and then after the melt snapped back due to lack of pressure?

I suggested the same theory. I also think the tops of the mountains were sheared off by ive as it formed all around the islands then as the ice slid it sheared all the mountains at the same height.

Randell, if you examine the South facing side of the Cruiser Seamount you'll notice almost half of it suffered rock and land slides. I hypothesize that both the Irving and the Hy`eres Seamounts are the missing pieces of the Cruiser Seamount. The whole area screams Atlantis in my opinion. Also add into the discussion the Atlantis grid that is slowly being pixelated into Oblivion. I'm hypothesizing that the fertile plains in the center of the Island extended east to the grid. Plato spoke, " " Looking towards the sea, but in the centre of the whole island, there was a plain which is said to have been the fairest of all plains and very fertile. Near the plain again, and also in the centre of the island at a distance of about fifty stadia, there was a mountain not very high on any side." " It's my opinion that the Cruiser Seamount is the Atlantian metropolis that Plato spoke of. I believe also that the Atlantis grid was the distribution point from the plain and the main entryway into the city for the produce and products from the plain and elsewhere. It's my opinion that the goggle earth images of the Atlantis grid shows that a canal once led up to the Cruiser Tablemount in which there was a harbor in the shape of an ellipse and where a bridge led up and over the inner rings to the Acropolis where the Temple of Poseidon was. The north facing side of the Cruiser Seamount seen on goggle earth is what's left of what I believe to be the outermost ring of the city. The remaining rings would have been within the center of the not so high mountain on any side described by Plato. And which is now the Cruiser Seamount. I have 2014 images from Google Earth showing the Cruiser Seamount and the immediate area. Today they have been badly distorted. I remember soon after taking the images of the area, another KZbinr and researcher who used location pins to identify the area prompted the Goggle Earth Pixel Police to come in and start pixelating the whole area just as they did with the Atlantis grid. So it's a very good idea that if you're using Google Earth for research and you find something unusual or strange never leave behind location pins to find the areas your researching. One last note, You'll notice that in the area of the ellipse there is a great pile up of debris which in my opinion is the effects of earthquakes and massive tsunami hits.

Is it posible the sucher stretch marks as you call then were caused by a pole shift event which if true would change where the bulge of the earth is situated causing the seamounts to be lowered in relation to sea level. The rock along the Atlantic ridge has been sampled and shows pole shifts at a regular interval as the crust is created by the spreading over time.

Possibly when the oceans were 200 feet lower then the removal of the weight of the water on top of the mid Atlantic allowed the seafloor to rise up? The 2 miles thick of ice at the north pole was also pushing downwards a huge shift in weight distribution on the planet.

The ancient maps as far back as 500 BCE show the world largely divided Inyo three land areas; Europa, Libya and Asia that we think of today as continents. Libya from the Nile west to the Pillars of Heracles and Europa as the northern half of the world and Asia all land to the east of the Nile and in the case of Hecataeus' map extending south of Libya. Is there any way to tell the difference between these “natural” limestone concrete’s and the “man-made” Roman concrete? They also used shells (calcium carbonate) and sea sand full of microorganisms in their “aggregate” mixes. Which appear to strengthen the form over time. I also have a hypothesis that symmetric/polished statues and jars in Egypt could have been molded with a granite “aggregate” and set with a natural tree sap or hemp type resin as the binder. Much like concrete can use liquid acrylic in the binding formula for “polished” molded parts. Have any Mass Spec tests done on those for this type of analysis? Ever heard of this type of study?

@@MelvinCruz maybe? I’ll look into though. Thanks. It just seems weird that we have mountains of all types and they are all able to be broken down into an “aggregate” and reformed with proper chemistry. Most if not all of our chemistry comes from botany. Why wouldn’t an ancient human see a mountain with crumbled “aggregate” at its base from an earthquake and say to themselves. “If this pile of rocks was once this mountain, wouldn’t it be great if I could rebuild a mountain to live in…that should be safe.” Just a hypothesis Plus bags of aggregate are much easier to transport than blocks. Humans are inherently efficient due to evolutionary reasons. So I look to debunk the “efficiency” aspects of these mysteries before buying into crazy tech or aliens. Personal, I don’t think the aggregate/concrete, simpler method has been considered broadly enough to discourage it yet. The coolest thing I ever saw about the Incas was how they had names for the astronomical dark shapes in between the stars. They recognized the “dark matter” as equivalent to the stars. Only saw one old documentary about this with an American archaeologist from the 80’s maybe 90’s. Never saw anything like it since…🤔 😊✌🏼

It's not some closed magma chamber with upwelling of magma also pushing plates away, but magma simply rising from gap between plates moving away. And volcanic islands subside naturally over time, because crust bends and sinks deeper into mantle under the weight of island. For example in Hawaii original sea floor plate surface under Mauna Kea/Loa is well below depth of surrounding sea floor.

Just finished watching his film about mega floods - now I'm hypothesizing the effect on tectonic plates of sudden weight removal of trillions of tons of water locked behind glaciers and the effect of gaining that weight on the side of the plate below the Atlantic. Since tectonic plates are floating on the mantle, couldn't that cause the plate to tip (downward under the ocean and lifting in Canada).

I've read that the inflow of glacial meltwater into the ocean basins caused the crust below it to sink, and resulted in the continental crust of Africa to rise. (And I assume other continental crust) I suppose this would explain the sinking of sea isles, and perhaps even subcontinental areas as well. I wonder what effect the sudden draining of lake Agassis (?) had ? Cause and effect. What was the effect ?

It would seem to me that if the glaciers were pushing down the land mass then that pressure would be raising other areas. Much like a kids squeeze toy. when the Glaciers went through the Younger Dryas and all the water rushed into the ocean, that weight was swapped. pushing up the old glaciated areas and depressing the ocean floors. and what is the mid ocean rift but a crack...or hinge where it would be weakest to push down...sinking everything in a big rush.

Islands - “generally”, are volcanic upwellings. Volcanoes are known to be positioned atop lava domes. Lava domes can collapse. A volcanic island, situated on a lava dome, which is situated over the mid-Atlantic ridge/subduction zone…probably not geologically stable. Dome collapses one day, island (Atlantis) atop the dome disappears overnight. Just a thought.

Love your work guys, very well researched, as usual, and compelling. My question is about timing. If the 'Atlantian' Islands sank as consequence of isostatic rise/rebound of the North American & European land masses, caused by the melting of the Ice Sheets, presumably they origionally, and very gradually, rose from the formation of them? Then theses emergent islands needed, time, to evolve an eco system/habitat that could sustain a population, presumably arriving from the continents from the east, which implies these arriving settlers were already reasonably well evolved, at least to a point where they could sail out there to inhabit the area. In all of the fluctuations of a waxing and waning Ice Age, was there enough time for a 'relatively' advanced civilisation to colonise and establish itself on these 'Atlantian' islands before they sank again. Also, with the periodicity of the Milankovitch cycles in mind (with respect to the frequency of Ice Ages) I wonder how many times these 'Atlantian' land masses/islands have come and gone before ?

The theory of evolution would upend religion. But we simply pivot to allow "intelligent design" to allow both scientific observation and religeous doctrines to coexist. If you can rationalize biblical characters living hundreds of years you can make any new scientific discovery fit within the realm of your biblical religion.

When you speak of the mid-Atlantic ridge, you can't ignore the one large island that today sits on it - Iceland. If your theories hold up, there should be evidence that ice thickness in nearby Greenland over time has similar effects on Iceland. If you could demonstrate that, it proves this sort of thing can happen, which is a huge obstacle to acceptance. If there's nothing in that relationship, it makes the whole thing difficult to establish, and even dubious, if such close proximity doesn't affect Iceland.

Interestingly, I recently saw a video on climate change including the map of Greenland without ice, as if the total ice sheet over it was melted, leaving behind a ring surrounding a huge inland sea/lake... wonderingmaps.com/wp-content/uploads/greenland_without_ice.png It made me wonder a little about Atlantis lost to the ages, and if the seabed continental shifting of tectonic plates could have moved Greenland from the mid Atlantic to it's present locality.

That would imply all other consequential geological changes, all over the area, not the Greenland exclusively, not to mention the timespan correlation with other events - if the cataclysm happened 12500 years ago, its effects could not produce anything similar to what I understood you have proposed - moving the Greenland...

The nautical mile is defined as the arc-length of one second of latitude, This is true at any latitude. The longitude, of course, varies in arc-length from the equator to pole. Today the international nautical mile is defined as exactly 1,852 metres (6,076 ft; 1.151 mi). The derived unit of speed is the knot, one nautical mile per hour.
