My introduction to double stack 1911s was staccato, and don't get me wrong I don't regret my previous purchases, but once I got into Atlas I basically sold off all my staccatos because i just didn't see a need to owning them anymore. 4 atlas guns currently in my collection and I'm currently working on getting an Apollo and EOS next, slowly but surely. I've trimmed down the rifle and shotgun section of my collection to the essentials to afford the Atlas lifestyle, and I have no regrets. Atlas to me is the threshold where you get 100% out of what you want/expect out of a 2011 without falling down the rabbit hole of super custom guns
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
I actually completely agree with this and I've been doing the same, thinning out the collection in pursuit of quality over quantity. Similarly my DS1911 introduction was the precursor to Staccato, STI. I love my EOS and have an Apollo on order, and it looks like I'll be getting an Erebus soon as well. Which Atlas guns do you have? How would you rank them? Thanks for watching!

Great review. I've got an Artemis now and an Athena on order and was thinking about the EOS in early 2025. You cannot really appreciate the Atlas difference until you've shot one. Put the price aside and appreciate the gun. Yes, that is easier said than done, but they truly are apogee of 2011's. Even running one mag through an Atlas the difference is astounding.

@@ChestersHobbies Hi Chester, did porting the CZ S2C and Dwx have any effect on reliability? I’m considering porting both. Thanks.
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
No issues with either so far (around 500-600 rounds in each post porting). For the S2C I believe I swapped out the recoil spring for an 11 pound spring, and for the DWX Compact it actually had perfect ejection with the stock spring (unless the previous owner had swapped it before I received it but I don't think they did). Both run great!

Thanks for the very good and information filled video! I really like your style as I really like the grip and ergos of the CZ (shadows full size and compact mainly but have many), but the double stack 1911 game was interesting. I really have my eyes on the Atlas line (gotta save up the moolah of course), but I haven't noticed a marked improvement from my Shadow 2 full size to the double stacks. I grant I don't have as many rounds on the double stacks, but one of them is a non-ported Vanta 9. I really like all of my pistols, but I don't think I'm skilled enough to really access the additional advantages of the double stacks. Obviously the original straight trigger of 1911 style pistols is the best I appreciate that, but not sure I get much else out of them. It may be the ergonomics of the CZ being more friendly to my hand as well so I'm looking at the new DWX full size optic ready as my next major purchase.
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
Wow, half through reading this I was thinking "he should try a DWX" and then I got to the end 😂 There is a MASSIVE amount of diminishing returns in the 2011 game. The full size shadow 2 is an absolutely incredible value for the money. With a ported barrel it's absolutely insane. Which is really just to say that while there are elements of high end 2011s that are objectively better and subjectively improved over the full size Shadow 2, it doesn't get a LOT better, really just more refined and nuanced, incredible build quality and craftsmanship, definitely better triggers etc. But if you love CZs and want to get a taste for 2011s, and DWX is a reasonable place to start to ease into it. Lastly, a little spoiler for an upcoming review: if you want a noticeable improvement for not a lot of money, in my opinion the Bul Armory Tac Pro 5 inch model is the best value for performance in 2011s. It's incredible honestly. I'll have a review of it soon - next two videos are ported full size Shadow 2 and Bul Armory Tac Pro 5. Not certain which will be first yet, but they'll both be coming soon. Thanks for watching!

@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
Great question! The mags drop free great with no issues in this one, so the mag flicks are strictly for theatrics and entertainment purposes 😂 I had been flicking mags to the left (which I do in this video some as well) which is somewhat practical, especially if mags are sticking a little, but then I saw John Wick flicking to the right, which is wildly impractical but looks cool on video so I started trying it out for fun. Purely for entertainment though, I would never do that in a real world situation. I will admit it's pretty fun to do though. Thanks for watching!

What’s the reliability like with atlas? I come from the HK/glock world of pretty much unbeatable reliability. Obviously ported and comped guns are inherently going to be less reliable or more finicky with ammo. I keep going back and forth between trying an atlas (probably a titan) or holding out for an Infinity.
@ChestersHobbies2 ай бұрын
So far in my experience (which has been just over 1000 rounds on 2 guns) they are very reliable. However as you rightfully suggested, ported and comped guns are pushing the limits with performance and as such, may potentially have more issues with reliability. In each of the two guns (EOS and Erebus, ported and comped), I've had one failure to eject in each, likely due to needing a little extra lubrication. Atlas is well known for their tight fit and finish as well as their reliability, much of which in the 2011 world is tied to the magazines. Inherently they will not be as reliable as a glock, but they still have exceptionally high reliability with a considerable boost in performance. The question one has to ask themselves is if that performance trade off is worth the small decrease in theoretical reliability. For me personally, it absolutely is. Thanks for watching!

They are equally as soft, can't tell a difference between the XC and any ported or comped Atlas. The grips are where Atlas shines because the gun feels so perfect in your hand. The XC is very nice gun, slide is just as smooth as Atlas. The grips are where the magic happens with Atlas

Sweet piece; what do you think of the CZ Scorpion OOB detonation, do you think they’re exaggerated? Also, what do you think of the Beretta CX4 Storm?
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
Thanks! The OOB issues on the Scorpion are definitely concerning, however I have never had an issue with my 2018 model. That said, maybe I will someday and I won't look forward to that. I think there's a way to check if your bolt is prone to failure but I've never bothered to check. Probably should honestly. The CX4 Storm is a super cool and interesting space gun design. I had one for a few years and really liked it. However when trying to consolidate my collection I had to take a more critical eye to things and I decided that the direct blowback operation in a super light weight chassis gave the CX4 excessive recoil for the caliber, the trigger is on the lower end of the spectrum for me, and I love suppressing my PCCs and couldn't do it with the CX4 without getting the barrel threaded and potentially SBRing it, which I ultimately decided wasn't worth it for me. Still a very cool gun, just wasn't in my top 10 personally. Thanks for watching!
@mattwalters68343 ай бұрын
@@ChestersHobbies neat, in my experience, the Storm is kind like the way you described the scorpion; you have to get down on but it’s controllable when you do. They improved the triggers at one point, mine is better but you’d still want the Sierra Papa upgrade for it.

In raw performance, yeah the EOS is impressively close. The Erebus has significantly less felt recoil though - the EOS is amazing but it can't overcome the physics of a compact gun versus a similarly well appointed full size gun. Imagine spending that amount of money on a pistol and having to wait over a year. Then you get it and they release a newer, better model. Kind of like Samsung and Apple. You get the latest and greatest. Then something better comes along.
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
I can't disagree, it's an absurd amount of money that I never thought I would spend on a firearm. The issue is they spare no expense with these guns - they are hand made, hand fit and take a significant amount of time to complete from start to finish. Regardless, it's still an enormous amount of money and very much limits the audience for sure. But for those that have the expendable income to spare and want that extra level of refinement, I do think they are the nicest I've ever personally experienced.
@ChestersHobbies3 ай бұрын
@isidrosevier1125 Oof, yeah, that definitely hurts. That said even Atlas recommends going through their vendors that often have purchased allocations in advance, so you can cut that wait time in half or better typically. Definitely what I would recommend for anyone interested. I don't think I would ever personally buy anything I had to wait a year for. Then again, I have bought suppressors and waited 400+ days to take them home... But that wasn't the expected time going in 😂
