Hey, great review, good to hear your review points. Been in martial arts alot, shooting 10 gauge since 8, 45/70 lever/308/306 since twelve. Plus doing yard work for a living for 6 years (alot of axe work). I have the same issue with firearms. When shooting I have to bring guns up from return, to get on target, and even snappy guns don't move much for me. So this sounds like the better option for me. I would say my grip strength is 5 to 10 times the normal male myself. Subbed because of this video good on you sir.

Hi! I know it has been a while since this video, but has it worked out for you shooting the Artemis in IPSC matches? Did you ever had it deemed illegal because of the sight block?

Thanks for the first impressions video! I have medium hand strength and shoot 3 Gun and USPSA 9mm 124 gr stock ammo. Would you recommend the Athena or the Artemis RDS with the aluminum frame (medium texture)? Thoughts? Pros and cons?
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
In 9mm the Artemis is built for a light to medium grip. The other two good options are the Hyperion and Athena. Those are both set around a medium grip. As far as grip texture they all 3 can be the same. The hyperion is non RDS. If you want an option for an optic than its between the Athena and Artemis. Both have 4.6" slides but the Artemis ends up being 5" with the sight block and 5" dust cover. Honestly having shot all 3 of them im a big fan of the Hyperion for 3 gun or limited minor. If you are set on having a dot Id go with the Athena. With that said you can't go wrong with any of them

@@mikeDstoker I'd like the Hyperion as well and prefer the slide cuts. But I'd really like the option of having a dot for open division and for future proofing. How does the Athena shoot with the iron sights (I know the front sights is a bit taller due to the RDS plate being taller in the rear)? Is it like shooting with suppressor high sights (increased height over bore)? Thoughts?

What would you recommend for medium to strong grip strength in 9mm RDS capable? Great video btw

The Athena

The artemis is not IPSC standard division legal. They do not allow sight block guns with threaded on blocks that extend beyond the barrel.
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
Can you please tell me where you are seeing that in the rule book. Its not in there that I have found

@@mikeDstoker yes, start here, this is a thread where I have collected the rules infornation on this subject. forums.brianenos.com/topic/289603-sight-block-vs-svi-infinity-island-barrel/?do=findComment&comment=3242542

Does the Artemis sight block any function to the gun? What is its purpose beyond IPSC
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The purpose of the sight block is to add forward weight to assist in keeping the muzzle flip down. With a 40cal gun there can be excessive muzzle rise so having that added weight on the front does a lot to help control that balance and return onto target.

Can you order the Artemis in 9mm with the heavier stainless steel frame?
@fairweatherbull49083 жыл бұрын
If you were shooting 9mm only, the Artemis or Athena? Mine is a medium to light grip so I was looking at the Artemis over the Athena
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
Artemis all the way. They are both extremely easy and smooth to shoot but with a lighter grip pressure the artemis will suit you best.

Are you still using the AGW Shielded Safety? Are they not necessary on the new grips?
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
The shielded is a preference. Grip doesn't change the need for them. Im trying the Artemis without. So far I like it. Same high angle just no shield. Either way works for me
@dsalsedo3 жыл бұрын
@@mikeDstoker I'm planning to get an Artemis in 9mm with a shielded safety. Would recommend ambi or single shielded safety for mostly 3 gun competition? Did you ever consider getting the RDS on the Artemis? Adam suggested I look into Super-Vel ammo. So I reached out to see if I can get some reman in the near future :-) Any recommendations on 115gr, 124gr, or 147gr in the Artemis?
@mikeDstoker3 жыл бұрын
@@dsalsedo if you strictly shoot 3 gun i would go single side shielded so when you dump the pistol in a box the safety can't flip off. As for Super Vel all 3 are great choices however the 147 is the softest shooting and has the most knock down energy on steel. Your new gun will come with a free box of it once you submit the warranty card.
