Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions here, some fine tuning of the motor control in CV 209 to 215 resolved the issues I was seeing. This is the first time I've had to really go in and fine tune the motor operation like this. I'm still curious as to what is special about this specific decoder and motor combination vs the rest of my fleet, but am happy with how it's operating now.

Is this sound decoder install easy to do?

Very easy, if your loco has the 21 pin header it just plugs in.

This locomotive is from a recent run I assume?

Everybody here are saying what I thought too. You may have to dive deeper into advanced settings to get what you want. Personally my son and I now use all ESU LokSound. They are very consistent decoders and with a LokSound programmer you can download any sounds available, do advanced cv's n' stuff. That behaviour would drive us nuts too. Do you have a link to where you get the speakers / or the type. Cheers! Earl

I've been very happy with the Tsunami2's, this is the first time I've had a loco in my fleet that required really fine motor tweaking in the CV's. Everything up to this one has performed wonderfully. For the speakers, An iPhone 8 Plus speaker is my goto, this one has an iPhone 13 PRO MAX speaker which so far has been great. I purchase them off of eBay.

Check cvs 3 an 4. I think that's start and stop. Also refer to the soundtraxx manual. I hope this helps.

CV 3 and 4 I set to my preference of 128 and 60 for all in my fleet, including 6611. Those also don't explain the high movement speed at 1.

Yeah id set CV2 (start voltage) to one. If you're in rhe south east Michigan area stop in to the Blissfield Model Railroad Club In Blissfield Mi. and we'll toss it on decoder pro and get you all squared away. Hope that helps man! Freddy BMRC President.

Thank you Freddy, setting CV2 to one along with adjusting some of the advanced motor control CV's (209-215) is getting me in the right direction. Still not sure what is so drastically different with this loco vs the rest of my fleet where I have never needed to touch these.

@mimodelrailroading those decoders are dual mode, can you try it on DC and see if it leaps like that on DC. I normally always set my CV2 to one for low start voltage and smooth slow running. One in one hundred decoders have issues from the factory but one in one hundred motors do too.

Try CV 2 = 0, CV 211 = 255, CV 215 = 120

Thanks Brandon, just tried it and still has the same behavior. Abrupt stops and too high of a speed at speed step 1. I'm tempted to wire the motor output from another loco with long wires directly to this ones motor to rule out an issue with it. Makes no sense.

Although, you may be pointing me in the right direction. I set CV 211 the opposite to 1 and low speed operation has improved, almost as slow as all my other locos. I need to play some more with the advanced motor controls CV's.
