Howdy, I do not normally comment but your Atlas video has compelled me to reach out. I finished this same install in my 12 FJ that is a 6MT about a six months back. I have about 3500 miles on the whole setup. Since the case was out, I also went ahead and ripped open the transmission and replaced the sync rows and rebuilt it at the same time. All has been well, and it certainly was not the easiest project, these units are designed and built for Jeeps and then somehow adapted to work for Toyota. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm sure that the comment area here isn't the best so maybe we can find a better place, email, social media messenger. I also referenced some help from EvilFJ, great dude. I was able to get mine significantly more clocked than his. Few things right away that will be your next discoveries is gas tank will have to come out and your speed sensors are on the wheels, so you could have gone with the shorter competition tail housing, and lastly test fit the crap out of it before you commit to the clocking of the housing.

Great work mate. You have amazing patience and perseverance. I don't know why they didn't make the stub shaft the correct diameter to match the existing bearing and seal in the transmission. That way, you just insert the new shaft into the transmission, no need to remove or replace anything. Maybe there is something that I am not aware of.

I don't know. I guess they couldn't possibly make custom parts for every single possible application. It's custom work, so I guess this is just how it goes!

Oh man are you ever having a difficult time with this installation. I have an Atlas 4spd in my 95 Taco with the 3.4 and manual trans and did not have the difficulties you are having. Not to say there were not a couple and like you I thought Advanced Adapters did not provide adequate instructions. My saving grace was I bought the unit from Filthy Motorsports in Boulder, CO and since they had installation experience they provided me with excellent instructions that saved me a lot of head aches. That was 6 years ago and never had a problem until late February when the low side shift rail cable retainer broke and required replacing the shift rail which required some disassembly. The part was on back order and did not receive it until April 20. Had to remove the t-case to replace it but all is fine now. Found out there was a problem with the low side retainer breaking and it was redesigned in 2017. They said mine lasted longer than any of the old style and they sent me all the parts I needed free of charge. So they did stand behind the product. That does bring some peace of mind and hope it does you as well. I'll be root'in for you that the rest of the install goes well as well as all of the other upgrades you are doing. ROCK ON!
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I'm sure the case itself is excellent. They just don't have a clear method of installation. Some of this is to be expected, but Advanced Adapters could do a vastly better job for Toyota owners.

Problem with non stock vehicle is the breakdown in remote areas and finding replacement parts.
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
That could be an issue. But most of the parts that are likely to break are things that can be welded back together. The Atlas itself is a pretty bullet proof unit. Breakdowns are inevitable, that's part of this game. 👍

man honestly, watching your video no this atlas is driving me nuts. you literally are hitting so many snags here and there. it does not look like a fun nor easy install. hopefully they can figure this out and make it smoother in the future. i want a 4sp but if half the time assembly is R&D figuring out how things are supposed to work, then it snot worth the price. idk, in my opinion i'm paying for the R&D that went into making a kit pretty brainless, but clearly thats not the case.
