See you got a plasma cutter that always helps. Have to admit it's somewhat painful to watch what mods you are having to do to get the Atlas to fit. I did not have as many install mods on my 95 Taco but a couple did challenge me. I do enjoy watching how you are overcoming the obstacle's as I might just learn a better way with my future projects. We offroaders are a community and it is a good thing to share our knowledge and experiences. Thanks for the awesome videos and ROCK ON!

Yeah the plasma cutter is nice! So quiet compared to the wheel or sawzall. I hope that sharing some of my experiences will help others. I'm not an expert at this, but not many people are, so hopefully I can help other non experts. Thanks for watching!

Found your channel searching for Atlas builds. Really enjoying your videos. You going through all your trials and tribulations with this is going to be a game changer when my Atlas arrives. Also love you're attitude when problems show up. Calm cool and collected. Great work!

Thanks for watching! Installing an Atlas isn't always a straight forward process! By the way... Don't bother with the rear TMR mount... I'll explain in video soon. 👍

For you next project or for anyone watching, measure from floor to bottom of trans pan . Put a piece of ply wood between jack and pan . Then completely remove the cross member. Slowly lower the jack and watch for interference(engine/firewall). Bolt your t-case up and slowly jack up. Mark with a sharpie, long sharp rod to punch reference marks to cut from the inside.
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty good idea! Sounds like you've used that method before.

I think building a floor cover up is a far better idea then welding it in. Your building an awesome all terrain 4x4 so in future your going to need some repairs down the road. It will be far easier to fix things with a removable shield just like the old 70 and 80s van. I like your channel good job great way to learn

Undoubtedly ! Detail incites are grand. How did you determine your initial floorboard cutting pattern? No doubt the excitement is building for the rollout from the garage. Thanks for the post, always helpful ! P.S. you marking the Mount plate from the get go, smart move, great tip!
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jey! I'm not going into this completely blind, I've gotten some insights from a couple other FJ owners who have installed Atlases before, so I had some idea of what I would need to cut. Of course every installation is different, so I had to discover exactly how much I would need to cut and exactly where.

Looking good. I’m guessing that you explored the idea of direct linkage to the shifters vs cables. Was that not possible?
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
Anything is possible with enough time and ingenuity I suppose. But this what Advanced Adapters sends out for FJ installations. I may come up with a better solution in the future, but this will have to work for the time being.
@Revnge7Fold3 жыл бұрын
I know this is a trail only FJ, but it like hurt me watching you cut up the floor, haha. Dont think I could do that to my FJ. Is the atlas really that necessary? For example why could you not just re gear the stock transfer case?
@jeffgreenwood51593 жыл бұрын
Because there are no gears made to re gear the stock t-case .
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
The Atlas will give me a great low range. The stock tcase is 2.56:1 whereas my Atlas has a lowest range of 11.7:1. This will allow me to really crawl over obstacles. This is necessary especially since I'll be on 42 inch tires.
@chrisluce66143 жыл бұрын
@@offroadhub.official Not to mention the front and rear dig! I'll have the gearing when I do mine but doubt the CV axels will hold up to that massive torque on a front dig.. The combo of axels and atlas is going to be sick!
@chrisluce66143 жыл бұрын
Looking great Ken, does not appear to be a straight forward job by any means!
@offroadhub.official3 жыл бұрын
No. 😄 The degree of difficulty is directly related to the degree of tilt you choose for your Atlas. I think if you let it hang all the way down you wouldn't have to modify much of anything.
