Mad respect for people who still have the drive to do things that were never meant to be. Custom builds can be extremely frustrating but they are SOOOO COOOOL when they're completed and the dream becomes a reality. Keep it up and keep posting the great content.

I hear ya, but Ken, If I'm not mistaken you are a professional. Consider every 4x4 shop in America having to fumble through this for the first time, and the adaptation is brand/type of vehicle specific as well. Forgetting about the lack of customer focus, I'm surprised AA thinks they can afford to take those calls. So much simpler is to provide bullet proof instructions even to professionals. (And... Assuming the milled part was just an oversight).

Congrats, and some advice from a friend that installed the atlas on his Fj. The stub shaft that they supply needs to be polished to prevent transmission oil leak between the seal and the stub shaft. Also the seal they provide is not high quality and it is nowhere near the quality of Toyota oil seal. Use some Toyota seal packing/high temp or equivalent when installing the oil seal into the transmission. The leaks occur from 2 places. One from the body of the seal and transmission housing where the seal seats and #2 leak is from the stub shaft which the oil seal “LIP” sealing/touching the surface of the stub shaft when transmission is engaged and turning. He and others called and complained about this to advance adaptor and it has fallen on “DEAF” ears, since it is not a jeep!! If jeep had this issue, they would had fixed it very quickly, but they sell very few transfer cases to Toyota owners, so they don’t care.

@admantiom1848
@admantiom1848 3 жыл бұрын
@@offroadhub.official lol Yes, polished, also you need to put some high temp grease inside the lip of the seal when installing the stub shaft. The polishing will prevent friction between the seal and the metal surface and you are extending the life of the oil seal.

I have an atlas in my 85 toyota it is a 3spd Tcase but my front case is still the original toyota just with the 2.26 gears. I do have front dig. I went this way on my duals because now it is now 30spline all the way thru so i can use the front case without blowing the shaft. Bones customs in Oregon city, Oregon. I daily it a couple weekends ago went browns for a poker run ran up the obstacle 7up. Atlas is an awsome case. Also they do make a case that can bolt directly to the toyota T-Case. I still have a 22re with a W56 trans. I have pics its still running. Still all toyota drivetrain. Ive had it in my truck for more than 5yrs now.

Patience is a virtue, you will need much of it during this build. I share the general sentiment of the crowd in saying this is unacceptable on the part of Advanced Adapters. The reality of how rare of a project you are building is to spend that amount of money and then have all this work yet to do just to get it ready to install. In the end you'll make it work and it will be amazing. Congrats on 5k, should be 50k+ based on your awesome content. Stay strong, Ken, cheers.

Super interested in seeing what else you run into, can't wait to see how far clocked you can get that thing for extra ground clearance. I'm glad you get to see what troubles I run into! Definitely tell them to do that machining for you! It should be done for what you're paying... I'm not sure what I want to do on the clocking. If I were still IFS flat would be the way to go for sure. I'm thinking maybe some angle though, just to lower the front output to decrease driveline angle. Again, with IFS the front differential is stationary, so flat would be it. I know flat can be done, I've seen it. We'll see what happens!
