If I were to install one of these bunkers, I'd do my best to conceal the air handling pipes. All it would take is someone sealing these with trash bags and the occupants would eventually run out of breathable air. An even more sinister thing would be to rig up lines from an oxy/acetylene tank setup to the air intake, trash bag the intake and empty the entire contents of the oxy/acetylene tanks into the air intake; creating an explosive mixture within the bunker.

I have some questions and comments: 1. Where do you get a/c power for 30 days to run lights, the heater, the nbc filter/fan, the sewage lift pump? 2. the answer to number 1 is probably a generator... how quiet/stealthy will a generator be? is it outside, or inside? can it be tampered with? 3. The NBC filter..... let's assume that it gets loaded with particulate, something like cs-137 and co-60 both are gamma emitters. how does everyone feel about being 5ft from a filter that is loaded up with gamma emitting particles? 4. overall, I think these bunkers are fun play toys, good tornado shelters, maybe ok for civil unrest and to keep bad guys at bay for a period of time. They over promise as a nbc 30 day shelter. These shelters certainly would increase your chance of survival by a lot, but they are in NO way a full stop solution, and I think a lot of issues would arise if you actually had to spend 30 days in this tube. I just think most of these companies taking $80,000-$150,000 of your money should list some of the caveats. I'm not saying they are over-charging for what they are selling, i'm simply saying that they are over-promising, by way of not listing the potential downfalls of a shelter like this. Folks buy in thinking it's a comprehensive solution, when in reality it is not. The reality is you just simply need a bigger structure to have all that is needed for longer term stay underground. You need a power plant area, with a small generator, ideally something water cooled so that radiator cooling air can be directed through vents for intake/exhaust for cooling the engine. Also water cooled generators generally run at 1800 rpm and are quieter, and consume less fuel. Let's no forget you need at least nuclear/particulate filtration for your power plant air intake, so that your entire power plant room does not become contaminated. power distribution should be in this same area. You need fire suppression. You need a radiation shielded area to house the air filtration. If you intend to change filters, you need a de-contamination process for yourself after changing filters, you also need a sealed space to change the filters. In fact, the entire filtration area should be sealed because of the likely leakage of contamination when handling, hooking up, unhooking a filter. There is a whole lot more that goes into an underground shelter to make it full stop safe. One additional note, if the outer door gets ripped off/removed, fallout can easily fall down into that tunnel, and that 3/8" steel door isnt gonna stop highly penetrating gamma rays. You really need a 90 degree corner, and a corridor to limit how much particulate reaches that 90 degree corner. I could go on and on....
@DR-zj4od Жыл бұрын

I'm in nsw Australia, I have always wanted to live underground. if you have one here I'm keen 😇 I have been designing bunkers and under ground homes on paper since I was a child. I'm now 47. My bunker would have a small grow room for fast growing food. Eg .. sprouts. Seed storage. Section of survival books and weapons. Tool storage for when you come out. Could use wasted space in mud room for that. I planned on linking up to underground spring or river with tanks and a number of cut off valves. My ideas go well beyond a simple bunker. I love it. ❤ and I love that you are helping so many people 💕 good man 👍

I've recently been dreaming about owning a bunker like one of these. I have no idea why because I live in the UK and we really don't need one for storms or anything like that but I think they're cozy and fun! I wouldn't want to spend 30 days in one but a week could be interesting. I think I'd really miss a proper working toilet really fast though.

Great job prepping and great job covering the hatch but the exposed exhaust pipes will hint off at something being buried there. So camouflage but do not completely block the air flow to the pipes and your bunker will be completely out of site
@lurchomaximo86855 жыл бұрын
Just a question. Can you have more than 1 air pipe for your bunker or is it limited to one? What happens if someone/something blocks it?

If I had the money for one I would want it forty feet down and twice as wide. Then would want four air pipes for ventilation and they would extend thirty feet in the air with a concrete post poured around them with a few fake posts more that would hang power lines to my house instead of wood power lines. That way it would look like I didn't want wooden utility poles. Them extending so far in the air would also allow for me to be under ground in the event of a flood, hurricane or any other natural disaster. If hit by a forty foot tsunami wave, the emergency valve would keep water from entering the bunker and the wave would pass in just a few minutes and air would resume quickly

I remember seeing the full video where he walks around the site for several minutes not knowing where the bunker was located. The owner shows up and points him to the tarp over the hatch, but the fact that it was so well disguised after eight years in the ground was interesting.

Quite a few comments are asking what's the point of surviving at the end of the world, but I think they are forgetting that these shelters can be very useful for smaller scale events like natural disasters. If you live in an area that experiences hurricanes, bushfires or other major events, a shelter like this can keep your most important belongings safe, and even save you and your family if you can't evacuate in time. You don't have to limit yourself to only using them in a zombie apocalypse.

@nikitachirich79852 жыл бұрын
Probably not a lot of snow since the winter will be global there won’t be enough ocean evaporation to cause cloud buildup in the atmosphere just nuclear particulate dust mostly , cold though as sunlight will be limited .

Thing is once you've got that stuff off the entrance and get in it, you're leaving the entrance exposed. Id perhaps consider having a fixed camouflage attached to the top of the hatch so it remains hidden when you close it.

How to hide a bunker in the woods? Rule 1: don’t cover it with a big blue tarp & modern outdoor dining table
@MK-lk7nc5 жыл бұрын
Hey bud, these videos are great thanks for sharing. I wish I could afford these kind of big boy toys! Some day... Anyways, hey have you ever thought about doing a show along with 'The Lockpicking Lawyer' to see if he can gain access to a bunker? I'm sure he could provide some great insight on security aspects. I'm thinking about trying an off-the-grid style tiny home build, maybe partially underground and using as much locally sourced materials and reclaimed supplies as possible. If you had any sort of videos on how to achieve some level of underground comfort 'on a budget', I would find that very interesting. I did already watch your septic-tank-as-a-cache video and that's a neat start but I don't think it'll work for what I'm trying to do.
