Rustem Pasha's portrayal in this series is by far the one that is furthest from historical accuracy than probably any other character. They turned him into almost a Devil like person, while his real life counterpart was far more fondly remembered in Ottoman history, for his political and military achievements and also for his huge generosity towards poor people and artists. The only part that does corespond to real life is his role in execution of Prince Mustafa, in which undoubtedly played probably the most crucial role, but other than that he was not as evil as this series portrayed him.

And that is also just a speculation like historians speculated that hatice sultan married Ibrahim pasha and they had huricihan sultan but they were proven wrong (talking about rustem and mihrimzh conspiring to kill Mustafa )

There were many characters who were portrayed as evil and cruel . But in reality they weren't. Valide Hafsa , Hatice weren't that cruel and evil and hostile towards Hurrem..they had a good relationship. Hatice and Ibrahim never married. So Ibrahim never cheated on Suleiman's sister. Also Mahidevran never killed Mehmed . Etc many

No, Rustem was actually charitable even within the show, the show portrayed Rustem as a competent Vizier, Rustem had the attitude as a Grand Vizier like Ahmed Pasha and Ibrahim Pashas before him, and yes, he did have a temper, but he wasnt THAT good, his military achievements were tame at best

This shows two things about Mihimah and that is 1: She did care about Mustafa and Byazid and took it hard enough to let an assasin after Rustem one she knew was loyal to Mustafa no less 2:Anger her enough and she be Hurrem times 1000 or even more

Historically, Şehzade Bayezid was killed on the orders of Sultan Suleiman and Sultan Suleiman did not cry after the death of Şehzade Mustafa or the death of Şehzade Bayezid, because he considered them traitors and his greatest enemies. Historically, Sultan Suleiman ordered his remaining sons to watch Şehzade Mustafa die so that they would learn a lesson from it.

@@winirogan9530 In real life, if Şehzade Selim came to Atmaca and appointed him to some high position and told him that he would pay him three times more than Şehzade Mustafa and Şehzade Bayezid paid him, Atmaca would immediately say that in such a situation he hated Mustafa and Bayezid and from now on his only Lord is Şehzade Selim, because officials in the Ottoman Empire were mainly concerned about money and they supported this Şehzade who paid them more.

Mihrimah served the justice. Rustem, like Ibrahim, has forgotten that he is only a consort to a dynasty member and he will always be considered less, no matter how high he can reach or what he achieves. Ibrahim dared to think of himself as a trainer of a sultan, Rustem enslaved Mihrimah by coersion. Also - considering age gap - it was creepy to think a man that was then an adult lusted for a teenager. Mihrimah did not forget, did not forgive.

Virtually none of things about Rustem Pasha shown in this series correspond to known factual history. Only his role in execution of Prince Mustafa is shown similar to how historical records show it. The part that was changd the most was his relationship with Mihrimah. In real life, while it is true that it was purely political marriage and there was probably no real love involved, it is historically known fact that he fully supported all of her actions in and out of palace and that they most probably had a mutually respectful relationship. Also, his exact relationship with Mihrimah's brothers, apart from Mustafa, is still very much debateable. Whether he trully supporter Selim or Bayezid has never been established beyond reasonable doubt. He was in the end of it on Selim's side, as it is shown in this series, but his true motives are unknown. His infidelity to Mihrimah was invented for this series and it never happened according to official history, therefore Selim and Sokollu could not blackmail him to join them as it was shown in this series.

As a Greek I really liked the series about Suleiman and other sultans. There I realised once more that Greeks/Byzantines played a huge role to the empire. From the mother of Mehmet the conqueror (he is half Greek that is), to Ibrahim Grand Vesir, to Kiosem who saved the empire family. It is true that after Suleiman, with Selim, the empire started the down fall for the same reasons that Byzantine Empire did fall.
