Wow. This connects SO many dots for me. Thank you pastor. Where Isaac laid on the alter and Abraham was willing to sacrifice him, and the Lord provided a substitutionary sacrifice of a ram, is the same place that God instructed David to make his substitutionary sacrifice on behalf of Israel after he sinned and did a census when God had commanded him specifically not to. It is the same mountain that God told his son Solomon to build the Temple. Ezra, after returning from exile organized the second Temple on that same mount. Fast forward, Jesus’s tomb is RIGHT behind the Temple Mount. If you’re standing on the Dome of the Rock, it’s like RIGHT there. Just behind that? Golgotha’s hill. Abraham’s alter became David’s alter, became Solomon’s Temple location where substitutionary sacrifices took place for hundreds of years, then the Second Temple, then right nearby the ultimate, and once, and for all substitutionary sacrifice, took place; the precious blood of Jesus.
